CHAPTER TEN

☔️

"Students, settle down now so we will start." The teacher yells across the school hall. My siblings and I sit somewhere at the back on the benches while we try and listen to the teacher in front. Everyone definitely felt like this announcement was a waste of time.

"As you can see, we are all gathered here today to discuss about this new idea we had been thinking about for this year's valentine's day." He spoke through the mic and whispers broke throughout the hall.

"This valentine's, students have requested that we play a rather interesting game. Before we tell you, please pass this box around and each student are required to pick out a paper." He hands over a mini cardboard box and continues to speak, "each student will receive a paper with a name written in. You are assigned to be this particular person's valentine."

As he finished the instructions of the game, all the students started to gush over their valentine. A couple of students had an ecastatic look on their faces while others looked really grim.

The box arrived to my row and when it was handed over to me, I took a deep breath before diving my hand in. I was nervous. I was hoping it would not be someone I disliked. Oh gosh, what if it turned out to be one of those girls who are too picky and a really bad attitude? Oh no! What if i ended up having Alastor Steele?

I hesitated when opening the piece of paper but when I recognised the scribbled name, I found myself grinning goofily.

Mackenzie Stevens

HA! I fist pumped the air. I can't believe I'm so lucky! I exhaled one huge breath of relief, earning two curious glances from either side of me. Lawrence tried to peek onto the paper I'm holding but I covered his face with my palm.

"You're not supposed to show anyone your valentine, remember?" I told my brother. He gagged in response, removing my hand from his face.

"Please? I will tell you mine if you tell me yours." He pleaded with big, round puppy eyes which nearly made me cave.

Nearly.

"Sure, who's your valentine?" I raised an eyebrow at him. He leaned in closer so that no one else could hear,

"Randy Moore."

I stared at him for a second. Two seconds. Three seconds. Four. Almost a minute, and I burst out laughing like a mad woman.

He flinched in shock as he eyed me increduculously. I laughed profusely, finding zero ways to stop laughing my head out. It was to the point where my jaw actually hurt, and maybe I am a real idiot who went crazy.

My eyes were beginning to get watery and I rubbed my stomach before regaining composure.

"You're kidding, right?" I asked my gaping brother.

"Um, I believe not." He squeaked, backing away a little.

Oh my gosh, Mackenzie's boyfriend? Hahaha, I can't believe it!

"So ah," he cleared his throat. "Who's your valentine?"

"I don't know, I just wanted to ask you the same thing." I shrugged and turned towards Richelle.
