CHAPTER TWO

☔️

"Okay Collins family, are you all ready?"

My mother and my siblings cheerfully replied with a 'yes' while I mumbled a response to my father's eager question.

The engine of the car started with a loud roar and we were off to this new town.

My parents held a conversation quietly at the two front seats, while I sat at the back of the car, in the middle of my wild and pesky brother and sister. I would award them 'The most annoying and infuriating siblings' if I could. They'd surely win.

Halfway through the ride, my brother's IPad ran out of battery while playing a game, so he started listening to some booming rock music from the 70s in his phone. He starts to sing like my sister, and..

You already know how my family is when it comes to singing. I rolled my eyes at my lame brother and covered my ears, trying to get some sleep. It was like, seven in the morning. And to me, that is really, really early. My earphones were stuffed all the way in my bag and I couldn't even bother digging it out and eventually end up singing like I always do.

In a way, I am doing my parents a favour.

If I wasn't wrong, the car ride took about an hour long before we had finally reached a similar two-storey house, but it was painted in a cream colour, slightly larger, and it looked alot more modern than my usual one. It actually looked better in terms of structure and design, which I was really happy about.

"What are you waiting for, Raine? C'mon!" Richelle grabs my wrist and drags me to the house. I nearly tripped over as I looked at the really cool place before stepping in with the rest of my family. I set my bag and ice skates down and looked around the cozy house.

The interior looked great to me and I was definitely okay with it. Not all furniture were brought yet but it still looked enough for a simple girl like me. I already like it. Gosh, I was mistaken! This place looked so much better than back in the previous town.

While settling in our new home and my brand new room, I began to have this incredibly uneasy feeling inside of me. Which I didn't know if it was just me being nervous or enlivened. I just hoped that the year would pass in a blast.
Like every year, no worries, no major problems, nothing. Just my ice skating.

As I folded my blouses and skirts into a cupboard, someone softly knocks on the door. It opened slightly and through the crack I could see Lawrence. He had a red t-shirt on with a pair of jeans and his hair was wet from taking a shower. Or he probably ran it under tap water. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did that.

He has tanned skin that covers average muscles and his height took after my father, who is a head taller than me. He does look charming to many people, but to me I just think he's the ugly and irritating person I had grown up with.
But I love my brother anyway.

He smiled and opened the door wider and I glanced up at him in question.

"Mom asked if you wanna come. We'll be visiting our new school."

I groaned out, making my brother shake his head at me. Unlike me, he's really sociable and fun, so I know that he would want to meet new people.

"Right now?" I drag my words out.

"Well she said that we'd be driving around town. Also, we're gonna go see this new ice skating place she discovered, and maybe for lunch we're eating pizza-"

"WAIT FOR ME." I dashed into the bathroom and behind me I heard a successful chuckle.

"We'll go talk to the principal. You kids may walk around, but please look out for each other. Alright? See you in a bit." My parents entered the principal's office leaving me and my siblings alone, in the school's hallway.
