I sat on the edge of the local pool. Silence. No one is around. I push myself in and sit on the bottom. I could only think in water. It was my safe place. My mom was young when she had me, my father supposedly stayed for three weeks after I was born then left. Afterward my mother started drinking, every night she came home and passed out on the couch. I was put into sunshine kindergarten, all the teachers hated me, so did the children, but I didn't care. By the first grade I had a wonderful stepfather, for once I had someone who understood me. My stepfather brought me to the local pool every weekend and got my mom sober, I had a great life. Now I'm 12. I'm on the swim team: the fastest girl.
"Rylyn?" a familiar voice called. I swam up to see my stepfather
"Yea?"
"Come on, we are leaving." there was a worried look in my stepfathers eyes. He passed me a towel and rushed me to the car.
We drove for hours in silence.
"Are you going to tell me what's going on?" I mumbled.
"Rylyn, I was watching you swim, you were in there for 2 hours!" loads of questions spread in my mind. "I'm taking you to a place where you can learn and control your abilities." He continued. I looked out the window as a dark figure came hurling at our car
"What the-" before I could finish our car was spun into the woods.
