Chapter 2: Pinky Promise
There's a time in life when something really changes on you, unexpectedly. You never see it coming, but when it hits, it hits hard. Knocks you right off your feet.
I didn't remember much of dinner, mostly because I was so scared I believe I may have actually stopped breathing for a moment. It's probably pushed into a far corner of my mind.
What I do remember is waking up the next morning. The sun shining way to bright in my face. I grumbled curse words under my breath, literally rolling off the side of the bed. I had a concussion worthy fall. Surprisingly, I still got up and made my way to the window. I took a glance and then, closed the curtains.
"Much better." I muttered, going back to my bed.
As soon as I was about to go back to sleep, there was a loud knock on the door. Ever so gracefully, I stomped to the door like a bear. I turned the handle, and yanked the door open.
"What!"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were up already." Jack said, backing away. Smart boy. No coffee equals no happiness.
"There's coffee in the kitchen, if you need it." He offered. Like I said, smart boy.
"Ok, thanks. Just give me a second to get ready for the day...You can come in, I'll just be in the bathroom." I opened the door wider, letting him in.
"Actually, there's a problem, I don't have clothes, or supplies. Plus what are my grandparents going to think? Can I call, to tell them where I am? I don't even know where I am! Where am I ? Who are you? What is happening?" I started having a panic attack.
"Hey, calm down. There's clothing in the closet, and I'll explain everything later." He held out his pinky, "Pinky promise,"
I looked at him, and I calmed down, and we made a pinky promise.

After a shower, I had found a shirt I liked, and some semi-fitting jeans, I pulled my hair up into a bun, securing it with an old hair band I found.
"Alright, you ready?" I asked Jack, who was looking at all the pictures on the walls. He turned around to face me, and nodded. "Ok then, You've gotta lead the way."
We had arrived at the kitchen, to find them fresh out of coffee.
"Hold on, how do you like your coffee?" Jack asked, as I jumped to sit on the counter of the kitchen.
"As strong as it comes." I smiled. Not about that whole creamer life. It's not strong enough to wake me up. Sure, it's cute and god for say, the afternoon, but I need some strong stuff in the morning.
"That's easy." He said, "Hold on" And he started going through the cabinets until he pulled out a can of coffee. And a cup that he filled with water from the sink.
Another boy around our age walked in.
"Summers! Just in time!" Jack yelled, motioning him over. "Can you heat this up? Chastity wants some coffee but they're fresh out."
"Yeah, sure." He said as Jack gave him the cup. He didn't move.
"Um, aren't you going to microwave it or something?" I asked.
He gave me a crazy look, and looked at Jack. Jack shook his head and laughed. The Summers guy joined in.
"Sweetheart watch this." he said.
I bit my tongue so I wouldn't argue back. Suddenly the cup of water started to boil.
"What the hell?" I exclaimed, sliding off the counter and taking a step back. I did not want to be anywhere near him, he can make water boil, however the hell he did that.
"Hey, chill kid. We'll explain everything later." the "Summers" said.
"No, explain now. Seriously. How the hell did you do that?" I was minor freaking out now.
The boys looked at each other. Then at me, then back to each other.
"We are in so much trouble." Summers stated. Jack nodded, and his eyes widened.
"Nose goes! 1...2...3... NOT IT!" Summers beat him at his own game. "Dammit!" Jack cursed.
Summers smiled, handed him the cup of water and ran. Jack looked at the cooling cup of water in his hands, before giving me a small smile.
"Do you still want that coffee?" He asked, as I nodded.
"I think I need it to get past today with some sanity left." I answered.
Jack laughed, throwing his head back, his shaggy, deep brown hair shaking.
"I think you will."
Then he handed me my warm cup of coffee; which was amazing, by the way. And we walked back to my new room, before telling me his parting words,
"See you in thirty."
I closed the door behind him, and looked around the room again. I took in how everything was placed.
Pictures placed sloppily on the walls, some barely hanging on. There was a chair covered in at least three blankets. A red, a blue, and a yellow blanket. The walls were a pale blue, that may have been brighter in the past, but have now faded.
"Weird colors." I thought aloud.
"Wow, the new girl talks to herself." a familiar voice scared me.
I spun around, to see the guy I had met like five minutes ago. I looked at him, observing his features.
Light brown hair, that sat flat on his head. He had brown eyes that suited him well. He was wearing a t-shirt, and some jeans. Dressed a little light for the season here. Well, at home, as in where I came from.
"Shut up, Summers." I laughed, and sat on my messy bed. "If that's even your name."
"Yeah, it's my last name. My first name is Evan." he laughed, inviting himself in and jumping onto the bed.
"Why, yes, please invite yourself in, and while you're at it, invite yourself out." I shoved him off. "And I like Summers more."
"Ouch, my heart." He joked, moving his hand to over his heart.
I laughed, and we continued to joke around. It was weird that I could act like old friends with someone I barely knew. What about Jack? Why was he so.... Cold?
We continued to talk until we were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in!" Summers yelled, as he pushed me off the bed.
"EVAN SUMMERS I SWEAR!" I screeched, as Jack walked in.
"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, shooting a sharp look at Evan.
"No, we were just chilling." I said, pulling myself up. "What's up?"
"Time for a meeting." He said before briskly walking out.
"What's up his butt?" I asked, and Summers shook his head.
"Long story, and we don't have enough time. Let's go." He said, as I followed after him.
