The following morning Nannette had insisted that I go out shopping with her, and I made no attempt in objecting, because if there was anything I loved it was shopping. My love for shopping was starved as I went to strict boarding school after strict boarding school, and it was no fun going shopping by myself if I ever had the chance.
I looked down at my outfit just before I left my room and I was wearing a v neck white top and dark blue jeans. I had paired it with my favourite necklace and grey boots. Port Elizabeth was a completely new place to me and I was excited to see what it had to offer.
I had managed to grab a bite to eat just before we left, Nick was sitting across the table from me, and I could tell something was wrong.
"Morning." I sung, trying to lift the mood.
"Morning." He replied without much enthusiasm.
"What time did you get home?" I wanted to ask how the rest of the party was but didn't think that it was a good idea.
"Late-ish."
"Okaaay, well I'm guessing you aren't coming shopping so what are you planning to do today?" We both had the day off so I assumed he had plans. He cocked his head and looked up at me from his bowl of cereal and I could tell he had no intention of being nice.
"Well considering now one of my closest friends is now obsessing over you-" He was cut off, and thank goodness because what he said was going to turn into an ugly argument.
"What did I hear you say Nick?" Nannette had walked into the kitchen just in time, she was standing hands on hips in a pair of jeans and light green blouse. She was clearly staring him down.
"Nothing." He muttered with a look of defeat on his face, he finished eating in silence and then got up and left.
"I hope he's not giving you any trouble Juniper?" She asked carefully examining my reaction.
"No, he's not I swear. I'm pretty sure thats just what it looks like to have a bad morning." But his words made sense, I just didn't seem why me and Dean walking home together would make him so mad; after all we just began to be able to be in the same room without fighting.
"You don't have to be so understanding you know." She replied jokingly, grabbing a bottle of water. "Are you ready to leave?"

Two and a half hours later Nannette and I were still sitting across from each other, except this time inside the food court of Port Elizabeths biggest shopping malls, under each of our feet was massive bags of shopping from almost every store that we visited. I was holding a ice coffee that I was trying not to spill cause I couldn't stop laughing.
"You really did that?" I asked, wide eyed and unbelieving.
"Well I believe it was justified, in the moment of course." Nannette was also laughing at the insane memory.
She was telling me about her canoeing days when she used her paddle to flip over the canoe of a guy who had hit her over her head with his paddle.
"The other guys there had to rip me off him cause they were sure I was going to drown the bastard."
"Damn Nannette, I'll remember this for next time I go canoeing with you." I meant it like a joke but Nannette's eyes lit up like it was a brilliant idea.
"That actually sounds like a great idea, I'm sure Charlie wouldn't mind and it would be fun."
"I am only joking Nannette, I've never been canoeing before." I said wearily sipping my drink. She saw this as a very irrelevant statement.
