The Chronicles of Juniper Ross- Chapter 4

The next morning I was woken up by a loud and impatient knock on my door. I threw my hair in a bun and checked my watch, it was 8:43. Surprisingly enough the impatient knocker was Nick, note the sarcasm.

"Yes?" I said with a yawn and my eye brows furrowed together. He was wearing that stupid grin again and I was beginning to hate it.

"Slept well?"

He woke me up to ask me that? He could not be serious. I didn't know the jet lag would be this bad I thought as I yawned again.

"Not too badly, any other reason as to why you woke me up?" I questioned.

"You were supposed to be awake an hour ago." He smiled as he said it as if it was funny.

I internally groaned and muttered a thank you to Nick before shutting the door. There wasn't enough time for a shower so I quickly changed into a pair of denim shorts and a black crop top with a red flannel shirt on top that I rolled up the sleeves of quickly, paired with my black vans. Brushing my hair I put it into a high pony tail and rushed out the door. I got my brown shoulder bag and my nike water bottle filled up and left the house.

I was told to meet Audrey at the veterinary center which Nanette gave me directions to last night. It took 15 minutes to walk so I ran and got there in 6. Lets just hope Audrey understood.

The veterinary center was a large building with white walls, as you walked in you were immediately in the waiting room. There were pristine white walks and floors and some potted plants, there were also a few dark blue chairs.

I walked straight to the front desk where there was a lady there sitting typing away on her macbook. She looked over 40 and she was wearing a perky red top and dark blue jeans.

"Hello, Um could you help me? Im looking for Audrey?" I asked adverting her eyes from her screen to me.

"Yes I could. Would you tell me your name love?" Her English accent reminded me of home.

"Juniper"

"Okay well if you just go down the corridor, Audrey should be be in room 3A on the right."

"Thanks" I flashed a smile at her, to be polite.

I followed the front lady's directions down to room 3A and took a deep breath before I entered. Inside the room there was a rows of cabinets mounted against the wall with bottles of medicine; some more dark blue chair scatter around the room and in the middle an operating table with a stand next to it and two teenagers sitting on top of it.

There was a girl with dark straight brown hair and blue eyes who was cross legged and laughing at something the boy had said, till I had walked in. Across from her was a boy who looked a little older than her with glasses and black hair that was naturally looked like he ran his hands through it. He looked at me with an eyebrow raised, a smirk still on his face.

I was slightly out of breath so I slowly exhaled looking back at the people eyeing me.

"Sorry I must be in the wrong room." I finally said after evaluating the situation.

"That depends, what's your name?" The girl said getting off the operating table. She crossed her arms and waited for my answer.

"Juniper."

"Then you're actually in the right room, my names Audrey and you are late."

The boy chuckled at Audrey snapping at me. His white teeth gleaming when he smiled.

"Sorry" I shrugged "jet lag."

"Better not happen again." she challenged.

I crossed my arms and opened my mouth to reply something snappy, I wasn't in the mood for her shit; but the boy had jumped off the table and spoke before I could.
