2. Still Strong!
The flight from Bangalore to Mumbai got delayed and she had to wait at the airport but she was fine with it. Patience was something that came naturally to her. 'What will I miss the most?' she thought to herself. It was surely going to be the independence and the amazing night life of Bangalore! She wanted to be there for one more month but her parents couldn't wait anymore.
She had graduated with her MBA degree a year back in Bangalore and was immediately placed in an IT firm as she expected. Working at an IT industry was something she thought could never be achieved but from past one year she was enjoying her work constantly. Her brain would always rack up with new ideas and initiatives. Within a year of work she had achieved performance award for initiatives.
The strong smell of coffee drove away all her drowsiness and she went ahead to get a cup of coffee. "Make it strong, please!" She told the coffee vendor. She called her home with the cup of coffee in her left hand. Her long hairs were tied in a ponytail and she worn casual formals like always. "Aai, the flight just got delayed so I might reach late at night," she told her mother. 'Meera's dad, are you there? It's Meera on the phone and she says that her flight is delayed,' she heard her mother shout on the phone.
There was some shuffling of voices while Meera was busy sipping her coffee. "Meera!" she heard her dad on the phone and a content smile spread on her face. "Baba, the flight is delayed. I might reach by 10 on airport." "But I will be waiting from 9. Now-a-days there is no such guarantee on flights and so I told you to come by train!" "But travelling time is wasted in train. I have to join office tomorrow, remember?" she asked him.
"What's the use now? Anyways you will be late. Take some rest tomorrow," her father replied. "Planning to do so, let's see. Anyways I had just called you to inform about flights, will call you later. Bye." She said and cut the phone. Most of the time Meera was energetic about her work but she was also a very lazy person and could sleep anywhere and in any condition. Meera started working on her laptop to pass her three long hours at the airport.
"Umm... any recent announcements with respect to the flight to Mumbai?" she heard someone ask her. He was a really tall guy with black glass frames. He looked really handsome and Meera couldn't help but blush at his sight. "No nothing except that it's delayed for three hours!" "Oh my god, is it?" He sat right beside her and closed his eyes in frustration. "Is there some major problem?" She couldn't help but ask him. "Yes there is! Today is the deadline of the new book I am writing and if I don't reach on time than my editor might kill me. It's not that bad though because I met you!" He explained and smiled flirtatiously.
'Writer and a flirt... Terrible combination...!' Meera thought to herself and continued with her work. "Do you like reading?" he asked her. "Yes but I like working more," she said sipping her coffee. "I mostly write romantic stories, you know!" "Too bad that I only read mystery and horror," she replied to him. "The name's Rajiv Joshi," he said and brought his hand forward to handshake. "Oh my god... Rajiv Joshi!" Meera exclaimed. "You know what, now I am really sure that I really have no idea of who you are!"
For a moment both of them stared at each other and cracked up. "And here I thought that you had no interest to talk." "Well you are not wrong at that one!" Meera replied and continued with her work. She knew that she had rudely replied but she had big issue with flirtatious guys. "I think that I really started it all wrong. I am sorry. I cannot spend my next three hours in silence or on my laptop. I think that I was just looking for someone to talk to. Maybe we can start from the beginning. Hi I am Rajiv and write novels for a living. What about you?"
