Chapter 2

Hey! So I am just starting out so sorry if you don't like my book but if you do please comment and share I would love to know! :)

I walked back to headquarters and into the training room, as I walked towards the ropes course someone grabed me.

"HEY JACK!"

I knew who it was immediatly, it was my best friend i guess you would say Ty. My name is Jackie but he always calls me jack just to annoy me.

"Hey Ty" I said, he let me go and pulled me into a big bear hug. Ty has the best hugs its like his hug will protect you from whatever comes they are the best.

"How ya holdin up?"

"FIne I guess I mean its not like they give a damn that it hurts like hell now that he's gone. I still have orders to follow and there is nothing that I can do about it"

"Aw Jack you know you don't always have to be strong, its okay to be sad about your brother."

"Yeah I know but it is what it is, there is nothing that I can do to bring him back now"

"But it doesn't have to be that way, you can change things"

I looked at him like he was crazy "Are you shitting me? what could I possibly do to fix this situation. Look my brother died last week because of them..."

"Would you keep your voice down your going to get us both in serious trouble"

"I don't care they took him from me ane you saying that I can change things is bull shit. All I or any of us can do is follow orders. That is the only reason we are here Ty "

"Jackie, I didn't mean..."

"Whatever I have to go train this new kid" I walked away in a rage. How dare he I thought to myself, putting that on me what the hell could I do but try to stay alive. I walked over to the water tank and put my head under for a few seconds I don't know why I went off like that so fast. I took a deep breath and turned around and standing in front of me was a young guy he couldn't have been more than 14.

"Are...Are you um... Are you Jackie"

"Yeah why"

He let out a sigh of relief  "Oh good I'm Troy, I've asked like fifteen other people before I found you" he let out a laugh.

"Well here I am, so whats your gift?"

"My what?"

"Your skill that they gave you? Ya know the only reason that you get to be here. Here let me show you mine. I am a bender I can control water and fire."

I walked over to the water fountain and let some come out before I took control. I slowly lifted my and hand and took the water and moved it around a little before letting it fall back into the drain.

"Wow that's cool!" he shouted.

"So have you noticed anything different since the change? I mean when they changed me my arms felt different, thats the best that I can explain it I could tell that something was different. So is anything different?" I asked as I turned around.

"Um well I don't know" he looked down at his shoes

"look kid how  am I supposed to train you if I don't know your strenghts? Your strengths show your weaknesses and by finding and covering them is how you stay alive got that? You need to know or you are not going to make it so figure it out or stop wasteing my time I'll be back in the mess hall run the course and figure out what you've got" I turned and started towards the exit

"Wait" I heard him yell behind me.

"What" I said without bothering to turn around.

"I think..." He started

"You can't think you have to know so get to it" I turned around and he was just standing there. " Didn't you hear me I said go!"

"But what if.." he started

I headed back towards him "But what if you what?" I asked gettring really annoyed.

"But what if I fall or don't figure it out?" He asked quietly.

"Figure it out" I barked at him "This isn't an easy path that you chose kid now buck up or get the hell out because we do not have time for people that aren't going to pull their weight so go start with the ropes course and end with basic man to man combat got it?" I said.

"Yes ma'm" he muttered

"Good now go" I watched as he made his way over to the ropes and I turned and walked out the exit. I know that I was hard on him but that was what he needed to hear, I thought to myself. We were treated the same way when we first got here and it made us stronger. He will figure it out we did. I stood outside of the mess hall waiting to go in. He will find me when he knows and hopefully I don't have to figure it out the hard way. I opened the door and walked into the mess hall and started towards Ty.
