Chapter 3

Hi! Thanks for reading! this is my first book so please comment and give suggestions on how I can Improve! :) I hope you like my story

I walked to the buffet first and grabed some food i knew that i needed to eat something even though I wasn't hungry, I walked over and sat down across from Ty, after about two minutes of awkward silence I said "Look Ty I'm sorry, I know that you were only trying to help but I can't jsut believe that I can change the way things are, they control all of us they gave us everything and they can destroy us in a matter of seconds and not think twice about it."

"Jackie I know what Max ment to you. He ment a lot to me too and I really was just trying to help but can I ask you something?" He looked up at me and I knew that he was up to something.

"okay" I said hesitantly

"What would you do if you were given the opprotunity to get out?" He almost whispered

"Ty what the hell are you talking about there is no way out" I protested.

"But what if there was a way" he said

"I don't know I might take it would depend on my current circumstances I mean if someone offered me that now I would probobly say no because I have too much responsibility with them it would be really noticable if I just disspeared but if I wasn't involved in anything then hell yeah get me out from under their thumb" I said "Why are you asking?" I looked up at him and he glanced around the room.

"Nothing I was just wondering" He siad.

" Bull Shit" I said "What are you playing at Ty?"

"Nothing I was just asking, I mean you said that you can't go on believeing that you could have changed somehting and I was just curious what you would do if you could get out." He said

I looked at him and knew imediatly that he was lying

" Fine." I said I wasn't going to push this because I knew it was impossible I just hope that Ty isn't stupid enough to be trying somehting like this he'll end up dead.

"So hows the tenderfoot?" He asks

"I don't know I left him to run drills hopefully he will figure out whatever they gave him, I've never trained anyone befoe and I have no idea what to do if I don't know his gift." I said

"Well I didn't know mine until I went through the course, not all people are like you and Max. A lot of people don't know what they were given right away. Its actually rare when that happens." he said

"Well this kid better figure it out fast Max knew before we met our trainer he kept shape shifting into other people that we passed until we found our trainer. God our trainer was terrifying! she was such a bitch thank godness that we knew what we got or it would have been worse I'd bet." I said with a laugh

"Really mine was great he was really patient I had no idea what they gave I finally figured it out after three days of running trials" he said

" Three days! It only took me an hour"

"Like I said that is rare. Whats the kid's name?"

"Troy" I said

"Well it will work out I've never herd of someone not figureing it out before" He looked up at me and gave a small smile.

"I hope you're right, i'm going to go watch him from the trainer's balcony" I said as I stood.

"Look for what its worth I think that you're going to be a great teacher jack and the kid is lucky to have you and I'm sorry I shouldn't have pushed you especially not the day of your brothers burial" he looked up at me and I could see in his eyes that he was genuinly regreting what happened.

"Don't worry about it, I'll see you later" With that I turned and left.

I walked down the corridor quickily becuase I was really curious to see what Troy was doing. I reached the stairs and started up. The trainer's balcony, I've never been up here before because I've never trained anyone else before. I feel bad for this kid I thought to myself. I've never trained before and I have no idea what the hell i'm doing when I reached the top I could see the entire training floor. It was amazing! The window in there is one of those windows that allow you to see them but they don't see you. Once I was done admiring this amazing room I noticed several other trianers sitting, watching and taking notes. I should have brought a notepad I thought to myself, oh well i'm not going to hike all the way back to the barracks to get it. I looked out to try and find Troy.

I can do this I thought to myself I mean how hard can it be. I walked over to one of the chairs that gave me a direct view of what Troy was trying to do. He was at the obstical course about to reach the strech that determines strength. I pulled up his stats on every section before this one he failed in almost all of them. Great I thought to myself we are getting nowhere. He still had strength, accuracy, and speed left. He started in on the strength portion and after a few seconds dropped into the net. not a powerhouse I guess. Come on Troy you can do better than this I thought. He was getting tired so I decided that I would go down there and dismiss him to the mess hall and bed so we can try agian tomorrow without him being a total zombie.

I reached the end of the course moments before he did. "Well I have no Idea what they gave you, you failed every section. Does anything feel different?" I asked

"Sorry I just don't know" he said as he looked down

"Well I guess we can try again tomorrow maybe something will click overnight" I said

"i'm sorry" he muttered

"For what?"

"i'm sorry that I don't know yet. I swear that I really did try hard I just didn't do well" he was looking at his shoes like the world was ending

"I'ts okay it takes some time to figure it out but we will get there. Now go get something to eat and go to bed. Meet me here tomorrow at 7AM we have a lot to do so be ready and hopefully you get some sleep tonight. You're going to be staying in building three room seven. If you are dying or are in serious need of something I am in building eight room nine. If you wake me up and you are not dying or are about to be dead or if there isn't a real emergincy you will regret it. Just a fair warning. I'll see you tomorrow" With that I started off back to my room.

"Thanks" he yelled as I walked away

I walked into my room and plopped down onto my bed and I grabed some paper and a pen. I have to figure this kid out I thought to myself. I started to plan a workout for tomorrow and hopefully something will come of it. Soon I couldn't keep my eyes open so I set the alarm for 6:30 and drifted off to sleep.
