Chapter 4

I woke up with a stream of tears going down my face. ugh I hate crying it shows weakness and I hate that! I lost my best friend and there was nothing that I could do about it but I just have to suck it up I thought to myself but the tears kept falling. Jackie get ahold of yourself I ordered I slowly stopped crying it was 4:30 in the morning and I knew that I wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep so I wiped the tears from my face and got up. I threw on a deep green v-neck shirt and dark wash jeans and headed out the door. I started in towards the woods that surrounded our base camp. That is how we went undiscovered we were covered by the trees and anyone that comes within fifteen miles gets picked up by one of our team and escorted out of the area.

I headed in deeper and deeper knowing exactly where I was going. Max and I came here all the time when we couldn't sleep. After a few miles there was a break in the trees and I found our spot it was right next to a stream and there were rocks everywhere that we would jump from and do exercises on. I spaced my feet about shoulder length apart, took in a deep breath and grabbed some water. I kept it eye level and slowly I moved it I started to go in unison with the memories that I had from this place I slowly made a sphere of water around me it started small but soon I had an entire armor around me and as the tears started to come I picked up the intensity and I had the water start to revolve around me until it was moving so fast it I could see my reflection inside of it as I looked closer I saw Max and I working together and right when I saw him hug me and give me a kiss goodbye I dropped to the floor  and started to ball. At least no one can see me I thought I was completely surrounded by water. Soon I got ahold of myself and I slowed the water down and i let it fill back into its rightful place in the river. I let out a breath as I sat there in silence. I heard something crack after a few seconds and Immediately jumped up to my feet. 

I stood there and I picked up some water and I listened to see if I was just imagining things or if there was someone there watching me. I heard something crack to my left and I shot out water at the noise. 

"Ahhhh what the hell jack!" I heard

"Oh my gosh Ty what the fuck are you doing out here! Did you follow me?" I said as I let the water in my hands fall to the ground.

Ty came out from behind a nearby tree "Yeah I saw you leave and I wanted to make sure that you were okay" he said

"You scared the shit out of me! What are you even doing out it's past curfew for everyone" I let out a deep breath coming back down from the adrenaline rush

"I was just doing my morning workout I always get up this early they never noticed so I just kept it up. Why are you out here by yourself?" he asked

"I just couldn't sleep and Max and I would come here all the time when we couldn't sleep I just wanted to get away and not feel like my life is not crumbling before my eyes" I said 

"I really didn't mean to startle you i'm sorry I just don't want you to get hurt" He said

"It's fine I just wasn't expecting it. I didn't even know you were following me" I said

" oh well I changed into a fox I didn't want you to see me and I like how quiet I run when I'm a fox" He said

" I should have guessed I just wasn't really paying attention" I admitted

"What did you do to make that water barrier I've never seen a bender do anything like that before" He said

"Oh well actually Max thought it up when we would come out here we would run drills and work on our gifts so that we could get as good as we can in a short amount of time. He came up with the idea of doing something like that and maybe one day I could make it big enough and control it so that it protects a large group of people but I know that I am far off from that. Max thought it would be cool if half was water and half was fire but I don't really like working with fire it is so unsteady and it can get out of hand" I explained
