Chapter 7

"No man I don't know who she was." Alex said into the phone the next day.

"She was giving off this vibe, that she was like, interested, but not like totally interested. And besides, I wanna race her again, but without interruptions this time. Maybe I'll see her on the mountain some other time." Ryan was extremely curious about the mystery girl from the previous night. The way she drove, and the obvious mysteriousness she had about her. For some reason, he felt like he had to figure out more about her before he could think straight again.

Later, Ryan was out driving to test something on his car when he spotted a Sunshine Yellow S15 Silvia. It had to be the mystery girl's car because Ryan was pretty sure no one else in town had a Yellow Silvia, or even a Silvia period. He pulled into the parking lot and parked across the lot from her and entered creep mode. He waited outside until she came out with a box, no doubt a new part for her car. She was definitely a gearhead just like Ryan was. He wanted to believe he liked her, but thought that would be way too cliché. The guy meets girl through some fate occurrence and he falls for her.

No. He wasn't having that. He wanted to finish their race fair and square, not fall in love with her or something. It was at that point that Ryan realized how creepy he was being, and waited for her to leave before starting his own engine and driving out of the lot. Deep in the back of his mind, however, he wanted to see her on the mountain that night but not just to finish their race.

That night, Ryan and Alex made their way back up the mountain, in search of the mystery girl and other challengers. After the previous night's interruption, no one seemed to have an interest in racing the dynamic duo. The whole meet was just a huge party. Alcohol, drugs, women, guys showing off for the women, a typical racer's party. Ryan and Alex found a couple of spots and parked.

"I guess everyone's still a little freaked about last night. No one's trying to race us, or anyone down the mountain tonight. I wouldn't blame 'em. The aftermath was all over the news today. Reports of a chase through the city, two M3's were wrecked, the drivers killed, and one civilian with them." Alex scratched his head as he watched the women dance and laughed at guys doing donuts to impress them. Ryan paid no attention to what Alex was saying. He was scoping out the crowd for any sign of the mystery girl. Her car was nowhere in sight, so Ryan assumed she wasn't there, when all of a sudden, he felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Looking for me?" The mystery girl was standing right before him. Ryan was shocked for a second before responding.

"Um, yeah, I guess. I don’t see your car anywhere. Did you drive?" Ryan asked

"Not tonight, I'm here with a friend who wanted to party. What are you doing here? I mean, besides looking for me, that is." She flashed him a quick smile.

"Just looking around for challengers and the like, I guess. But I see that's not happening tonight. Everyone still seems a little scared to race after our impromptu marathon through town last night."

"Yeah that was weird. Do you have any idea why those guys were chasing us?"

"Not really, I have a hunch they're after me but I'm not sure." At that moment Ryan paused as a Black M3, similar to the ones that were chasing Ryan pulled up and parked. Two men wearing all black and dark sunglasses stepped out of the car. Ryan looked away for a brief moment and they were gone.

"I have to go find my friend, I'll be back." Ryan told the mystery girl as he walked away in search of Alex. When he got to Alex's car, he found a note on the windshield. It read:

"We took your friend. Meet us at the abandoned warehouse district ASAP to discuss some business." Ryan crumpled the note and glanced over to see the M3 making a hasty exit. He unlocked his own car and started it up when the mystery girl got into the passenger seat.

"Something's up. I'm going with you." She said, strapping herself into the harness. Ryan didn't bother to object. He just took off into the night, desperate to get to the Warehouse District before it was too late.
