I'm laying on my bed and thinking about the cook-off until I fall asleep. What should I do? What kind of dish do I make that would have that wow factor to shock the judges? *sigh* I don't know what to cook. I guess I'll be creative and think of something when its time. After all, I have a few weeks until the cook-off. I sure would hope that I come up with something by then. But, my main goal for this year, is to crush Austin and get the grand prize trophy that I've been wanting since last year. I have only one trophy but I won that thing two years ago. Don't worry Nat, you'll think of something, you'll show Austin what you are made of. And by the time I knew it, my eyelids were getting heavy and I fell into a deep sleep.
Austin's POV
My dad and I are about done eating the delicious dinner I made when I decided that I was going to shoot some hoops. "Hey dad, I think I'm going to shoot some hoops for a little bit. You know, to practice my free throws." I said while putting the dishes into the sink. "K, son. I'll be planning our play-out for the game this Friday." said my dad while walking up the stairs and disappearing into his bedroom. Yeah, that's right. My dad is my school's basketball coach, and I'm the Team Captain of our school's basketball team. He's been a lot more... I guess you can say calmer since my mom left us. I just feel bad for him sometimes. I mean, we both broke down a little after my mom got into a car accident and never came back home from work. Sometimes I just shrug it off and tell myself she's still with me, but I know that that wasn't possible. She was everything to me. She was the one who first taught me to cook... she was my inspiration.
I head out the garage door and started dribbling. I bounce my basketball and aim it to the basket in my house's driveway. I made a basket as usual. I shoot, I score. After a few more practice shots, I wiped the sweat off of my brow and headed back into my house to take a shower and head off to bed. After my shower, I think about the cook-off. What should I do to win the competition this time? What was my favorite dish that I've cooked and had the most compliments on? What should I do to beat Nat and win the grand prize trophy? I mean, she's pretty, smart, and an awesome cook...but, I know that she has her secret weapon already ready for me to be beaten down by it in the competition. But what could it be? Forget about the cook-off for now, I have a few weeks until I have to worry about that. Now, I have a lot more things I have to worry about. Like my classes, homework, basketball... but even the fact that I might be falling for Nat.
