Everything I Never Wanted

Chapter 2

*Beep Beep Beep*

I awakened to the now familiar scent of cleaner and sound of heart monitors. As I opened my eyes I saw the blindingly white tiles on the ceiling spinning along with along with everything else in the room. As my vision starts to clear up I see a nurse start to approach me.

"Brooklynn, your finally awake. Can you just follow my finger for me?" She says as she waves he index finger in front of my face.

* shines pen light in my eyes alternatively*

"Good your pupils are responding normally. I'll be back in a few minutes with Dr. James. Until we get back just sip the water on your bedside table."

"Thank you, Mrs.Stacey."I say. I've been on enough trips to the hospital to know a majority of the nurses personally.

Mrs.Stacey and Dr.James came back about 15minutes later with a clipboard holing my impressively sized medical records folder.

"Brooklynn, glad to see your finally awake."Dr.James says walking to the far corner of the room to turn off those pesky monitors.

"Good to see you too Uncle James."

"Do you mind telling me everything you remember from tuesday?"

"Well Uncle, as you surely know I'm quite clumsy... So when I was walking to the kitchen when I tripped and hit my head on the counter top."

"Brooklynn, sweetie, you know your stories have gone by us before but you can't lie your way out of it this time."

Giving him my best most rehearsed innocent look I say,"But that is what happened Uncle James."

Giving me a look that clearly says 'I can see right through your lies', he sighs saying " Brooklynn I know how she treated you and what happened, Tammi confessed..."
