Chapter : 2 The Reaping

As we walk I stop crying and I try to look brave . Why you may ask , were in front of the entrie place of Panem and plus the capitol ! So anyway as we walk I tell my sister " I'll pray for you " . And she anwsers back " ok I'll do the same then ". From then on I've been mumbling a prayer for her . I think she might be doing the same thing because I hear her say some words like Heaven........save........please and anyway she said she would but most the time she breaks her promises . I don't think on Reaping day she would though . Somehow Reaping day brings us all toughter and closer as a family . Now were standing in line for them to take our blood to see who we are I'm a little scared I've never done this before .
" I'm scared ". I say in a hushed voice .
"I was to when I frist got my blood took to . But It doesn't hurt at all . I promise. " she tells me . So I slowly walk up to the table with the other people and Mary . Mom goes over to the middle where the people who aren't eligible stand and wait for there loved ones or just plain people to get picked to go into that disgusting and HORRIBLE place . Now it's time to get my blood tooken by the nasty peace keepers . I slowly walk up as the girl peace keeper gestures for me to come . I walk a fewbinches and the person gestures for my hand . I hand it to her and she quickly pokes the needke right into my skin and she's not trying to be gentle either . "Ow!" I scream . Everyone turning to look at me and some laughing I turn and say a shamed " sorry . " then I turn around to the person who was laughing and scince there next in line I say " Your next and you know what it really does hurt so GOOD LUCK ! " . He look frightened and so did the other kids behind him because I think they were only 11 and it was there first time to . Before I could say anything else Mary came and picked me up and took me to where I was suppose to stand . " He laughed at me , it was his fault I said somthing to him and anyway it scared him even more and thats what he deserved ! " . "Yeah I know I would've done the same thing . You stay right here OK . " she commands . "Fine." I say mad because she always tries to act like mom when it's Reaping day . She walks off and goes to stand in her place in the front . In district 11 it's the oldest to the youngest so from what I see and heard from past Reapings . Later my only best friend walks up and says " Hey !" .
" Hi Rue !". I excalim Happy to see Rue before the Reaping happens .
" Hello can get your full attention please , hello ?" Me and Rue look up at the speeker as we where taught in school .
The others hush and also look up to see the speeker or give her rude looks and dirty finger signs .
" Ok let's get started . " Kayla says . I now have learnt that her name is Kayla from all the people saying "look at that raccoon named kayla !". I think they call her that because she is wearing all black and gray and gas black glasses that are cirlced shaped and it looks like she's a raccoon . "Stop." I say . But all they dois look back then countiue to do it again .
Soon were all quiet and Kayla says more like yells " Now to watch the video that reminds us of why we do have the Hunger Games . "
The viedo plays and in like maybe 30 mintues it's over abd Rue looks at me and says " Dry your nose and eyes . " Truly I didn't even know I was crying and snoting but I do dry my eyes and nose . Kayla stands back up and walks over to the micorphone and fake drys her eyes and mouthes " WOW " !
" I always get emotional during theese . " she says in between breathes . "Oooh " she starts agin " ok time for the drawing . " she walks over to the boys bowl and shufffles her hand around and finally picks one and all of us hold our breath and she holds it up was! Aware and reads " Thersh howard " ! We all look around and finally I see a boy walking up to the stage but before he gets up to the stage a person yells " I volenteer ! " . We look around to see who you that was and finally the boy runs to the stage and whispers to Treash soon Threash walks back to his standing place smiling for some werid reason . The boy soon reaches the stage and with a look of shock on her face Kayla tells us "This is the first tribute I've seen since I don't know how long ago . What's your name ? "
" My name is Kale Late ." He says with no hesitation .
" Well OK then , " then Kayla grabs his hand
And holds his up and finshes up with her sentence " Our first tribute " . Nobody claps , but Kale does and everyone looks at him . " I guess he's claping for himself ". I comment to Rue who laughes a little then stops when Kayla glares at her .
" Now for the girls ." When she says that she looks straight at Rue and glares again . She digs around and finally picks one up , when she reads the death ticket she smiles and I already know who it is .
She opens she mouth and reads happily :
" Rue Henderson " !
Everyone including me looks at her we all make a path way for her to walk but I hold her back and scream
" I volenteer !" How could I let my best friend Rue go into the 74th Hunger Games as weak and small as she is ! " No why ." Rue shouted her head , looks like , cloudly in what had just happened . She reached out to try and grab me but I escaped her clutch and sorta ran - walked to the stage where Kayla was . " I didn't think we would have another volenteer but we , I guess do now . Three cheers for our two awesome volenteers , um whats your name darling ? " Kayla asks .
I anwser quietly " Heaven Wheeler " . " Ok then three cheers for Heaven and Kale ! " Nobody cheers , claps , or moves all they do is kiss there three fingers and hold them up to the sky . Kayla looks at them in disbelif like WHAT is this . Soon all of them put there hands down and me and Kale ,went to the justice buliding for what I don't know .later I find out that , on the way there , that were going to have a family meeting for like a minute . I sit down and wait for Mary and my Mom to come . Soon they come and Mary says to me " WHY " . And hits up side the head .
"She's my friend and she's to weak at least I have some sorta strength . You would've done it for me wouldn't you ? "
" Fine try to find somthing sharp to throw I've seen you throw rocks and you're pretty good at it . If they have spears or knifes use thoughs ok . I love you remeber that , ok ? She finshes .
I say " OK " .Then mom walks up and says " You got yourself into this and you HAVE to get yourself out ." With that she gives me a hug and holds out her balled up fist I mouth WHY and she gestures that I put my hand under. She realses somthing . A necklace it has a moon shaped pendent and a metal yellow sun both with ingravings one ingraving says:I love you and the other says:to the moon and back . In the middle It says: HEAVEN WHEELER ♥

"I've been meaning to give it to you but I always forget this morning I was but with all the pressure on you and Mary I again forgot . So now , i guess is the perfect time to um give it to you . Bye baby
I love you . " And then I say " I love you . Bye mom and sis . " We all get up and cry and sniffle  and pray and hug and exchange ' I love yous !' Soon after my mom and Mary get done were all escorted out I go one way and they go the other . I scream " Bye , I love you " . And they scream the same words back and I start crying real hard . Why did I get myself into this , just why . I can't win I'm gonna die right then . Then I see Kale and I see him crying to but not as hard as me . I wonder why he was so confident at the Reaping and why he was also so cool looking and why was he like not that here . Maybe he regreated it the same why I did and maybe he might just be nice I've seen him at school and he looks nice but I've never actually talked to him before . "Hey". I say wiping my tears and snot . All he does is semi- smile . I of course fake full smile back . He looks away . Soon we board a massive train . I've learn't that because I heard Kayla say let's board the train ! . " . As I go up the steps I see tons of massive glass statues , bowls oak cabients and gold chanderilers .
" Wow ." Is all I mange to say .
