The day would have gone like any other, get up, go to school, play sports kiss his girlfriend, but today was no ordinary day. After nearly two years of wait, the newest hit game; Halo: RTS would be released at eleven fifty nine that night. Of course today would have been the day school was cancelled because of the fact that next to nobody would show up. Everyone including most of the Schools teachers were racing to go and get the special edition release that takes place at lunch. Raynor was unconcerned about getting the game, I was a sports guy, and had never played a videogame that would need his time as much as this one. Sure I'd logged time playing Halo and Call of Duty, but that was different. This was going to be the world's first ever full immersion virtual reality game. Miss a day and you could be set back a week of time. His girl would be on this game but that would be it. I went to school anyway and got some extra work from his teachers. Spending a quick hour playing a football game with five of his friends, Raynor walked home. His walk took him past the mall where I saw Keltie standing in the line-up with her group of friends, Jace, Wesley and Ann, my sister. I walked over and called out: "Hey baby what's up?" I asked as I hugged her.

"Not much, how about you?" she asked hugging me back.

"Well schools closed today because of this." I gestured with my hand.

"Aww muffin, that sounds terrible." Said Ann, giving me silly puppy dog eyes "Looks like you and your testosterone friends can't hit each other today."

"Hey that's below the belt there, sister." I said pretending to be hurt. Just then the theme music to the new game began playing. A man walked onto the stage nearby and began speaking, to the sound of the games trade marked OST, the choir humming and the kicking drumbeat with its electric guitar.

"Hey everybody, are you ready to save the universe as the greatest hero's ever? Are you ready to finish the fight? Are you ready to help make history?!" He asked as the crowed started cheering. I cheered to, as I recognized the man speaking. It was the man who voiced Master Chief in the Halo games. He pushed a button and a hologram, which was quite common in richer households, popped into life. It was Cortana, the AI advisor for you in the games. She looked at us, smiled and waved. And started speaking "We are going to call out numbers, when we do come and get your free signed copy from the Chief here, each copy containing its own special skin for the game, as well as being able to pre select your guild name for this game before it launches."

"13" The group in front of us went up.

"107" Jesus there were that many groups of people here?

"32" A group of people behind us went to get the copies.

"14" I paused for a second. That was us!

"Aww hell's yeah!" Jace said as we walked up the stage to receive the games. We all got a copy, including me; apparently you didn't buy the copies, just the tickets to get in. Everyone headed home to start the game and play it. I jogged to my house with Ann and we started the game up in our computers. The first hitch was when it said: please connect helmet. "Ann, have another helmet?"

"No, I got you one though silly"

"Oh right"

"Don't look so glum, chum you won't be stuck in this game forever." She said winking as she put the helmet on her head and disappeared into the game.

"This one time, I'm going to trust you, not like the 'drink-this-coke-eat-this-Mentos' time I trusted you." I put the helmet on and lay down on my bed.
