I found myself on a mountainside, with no lights or other suggestions of humanity in any direction I looked. I realized that without food or water that I would die, but wondered what would happen if I did. Not eager to find out I pulled my helmet out of my inventory and put it on.
"Ray I need your help, where is the nearest human settlement, how long will it take me to reach there, and where the hell is Keltie?"
"The nearest settlement; Alert, is twenty-five miles to your south-south east. It will take you, at a jogging pace three hours to reach said area, and I have no idea where your friend is Raynor." I sighed and started jogging to the settlement that Ray had mentioned, hoping that nothing bad would happen.
After nearly being spotted twice by some grunts, I reached an area that was a gully between two of the mountain ranges. "It'll be faster than heading around the mountains." Ray informed me. I started the march between the mountains, praying that a boulder wouldn't come and smite me into a pancake. After walking for about twenty more minutes saw that there was a massive base sitting inside of this flattish clearing in the middle of the pathway. I engaged to zoom on my visor and saw that there were large amounts of high ranking Covenant in the base camp, as well as a few Field Marshall's, who I really didn't want to fight. Right before I turned back I heard the sound of plane engines, and so did the most of the Covenant here. Suddenly a group of hornets flew overhead with two Pelicans; one had a Warthog locked into its back. I hid in a snow bank and watched as the Hornets began to fire into the camp. A split second later the warthog came roaring over the hill behind me with a dozen players on foot behind it. The man on the gun turret firing a rocket as well as then turrets weapon itself. The Warthog raced closer to the wall of the base, the incoming fire increasing while the warthog flipped over and exploded mid-air, throwing the people in the vehicle clear. Wreckage falling from the air as it landed on the wall, crushing through it. I heard a cry go up from the green Spartan who, charging the wall fired a rocket into the guard tower, which exploded into a ball of fire and dead guys. I leapt from the bank where I was hiding, and joined the charge. Running with the group and firing, we charged into the gap in the wall. The opening was swarmed with fire from the baddies now shooing at the Hornets, who were badly damaged and barely flying. The Hornets were flying away from the battle, trying not to get shot down. One of the flyers was brought to a flaming demise as the engine was blasted from the left side of the craft, which crashed to the ground blocking the way back out of the base. Me, the Green leader looking guy and a dozen others, were trapped inside of the base.
"Boss, what do we do?" Yelled out one of the Marines, which was a bot, thankfully, who died a second later as plasma rounds destroyed his cover.
"I don't know the plan was to hit the base quickly and then run back!" Yelled the large Green Spartan, who was firing rockets into the cover of the enemies, who scattered avoiding our fire, I kept shooting, praying that I wouldn't die here. One of the Players noticed me and called out: "Where's your gun, recruit?"
"I'm holding it." I yelled as the plasma fire hit me and threw me off of my feet; thankfully my shield saved me from any injuries. I leapt to my feet and fired the last of my magazine into the wall of elites, killing one. The Player threw a weapon at me and I caught it, it was a shotgun, and I love shotguns. I pumped the slide and fired a shot into a Jackal, hitting him in his right foot, which wasn't covered by his shield, and killed him.
"Nice shot; you're a pro at this!" The Gray Spartan complemented, while he took a trio of grunts out with his Assault Rifle.
"Not so bad yourself." I cheered as he took another two grunts and an Elite with another burst. I racked the slide and fired another round off, hurting a Jackal with the blast. After a few more minuets of shooting the fire coming toward us started to let up as we took the rest of them out.
