It is I, loyal followers!
Since the downfall of JessieCarnell's Weekly Writing Challenge, I have taken it upon myself to make a new one for people who still want to write short stories every week. The format will be slightly different; however, the premise is still the same.
Each week I will post a new topic. I will put a song at the top of the page, hopefully for you to listen to on repeat while writing. You don't actually have to do this, but it would be good if you listened to it at least once. Next, I will provide a list of random words and phrases. You shall pick three (more if you want) and include them in the story.
After I get all the entries for each week, they will be judged and winners will be announced. I judge going by clever use of the required material and the relation to the song posted, as well as general fluidity to the story and conventions (spelling, grammar, etc).
First place winners will receive eternal fame and glory, plus a dedication and a vote. Second place winners get a vote plue semieternal fame and glory. Third place winners get fame and glory.
The prizes aren't the only fun thing. Along with the fame and glory of getting your name in a page of a girl with 31 followers, I will also provide basic beta reading faculties. Two compliments and one thing you could work on to make your writing better.
How do I join, you ask? Easy!
Step one: Create a new book. Title it something fun, and introduce yourself in the first part. Dedicate it to me so I can see it.
Step two: In the first week, you will create a story. By that time, I will probably have followed you and therefore know when to look for it. However, in the off chance that I forget to, please post a link to your story in the comments section and a short pitch with the title.
Step three: Carefully read each week's section, because I will announce the previous week's winners there and the specific rules for each week.
