"When she is a daughter, she opens the doors of jannah(heaven) to her father".
"When she is a wife she completes half of her deen( religion) of her husband."
"When she is a mother jannah lies underneath her feet".
"If everyone knew the true status of a Muslim women, even men would want to be a women."
- Saying of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him

At the time when the rest of the world, from Greece to Rome, to India and China considered women as no better than children and even slaves, Islam acknowledged womans equality with men in great many respects. In the Quran Chapter 30 verse 21 Allah says :
"And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect."
The prophet Muhammad peace and blessing be upon him also said :
"The most perfect in faith amongst the believers is he who is best in manners and kindest to his wife" [Abu Dawud]
Many women of Islam have had high status. For example Khadija, the Prophets first wife was the first person to accept Islam. His third wife Aisha was the first scholar of Islam. Sumayyah was the first woman to die for Islam, when the greatest enemy of Islam in our nation ( Abu Jahl) striked a spear in her private part killing her for accepting Islam. So many Muslim women had high statuses they even fought in the wars with their husbands, fathers and brothers.
With regard to education men and women have the same rights and obligations. This is clear in the Prophets saying:
"Seeking knowledge is mandatory for every believer".[Abu Dawud]
This implies men and women.
A women is to be treated as God has endowed her with rights such as, to be treated as an individual, with right to own and dispose of her own property and earnings. Enter into contracts, even after marriage. She has the right to be educated and to work outside of her home if she chooses. She has the right to inherit from her father, mother, and husband. A very interesting thing in Islam, is unlike any other religion, a women can be an imam, the right to lead prayer in a group of women.
A Muslim women also has obligations. All the laws and regulations pertaining to prayer, fasting, charity, pilgrimage, doing good deed, etc, apply to women.
Before marriage, a Muslim women has the right to choose her husband. Islamic Law is strict regarding the necessity of having the women's consent for marriage. The groom gives a marriage dowry to the womens own personal use. She keeps her own familys name rather than taking her husbands. As a wife, a woman has the right to be supported by her husband , even if she is already rich. She also, has the right to seek divorce and custody of young children. So as you can see Muslim women had rights for over 1400 years now while Westen countries and non Islamic countries started applying these laws in the 19th and 20th century.
If a Muslim women also doesn't want her husband to get married to another which is already very unlikely, she may say so during the time of they are consuming the marriage.
It is even known the best womens to walk on the face of the earth were : Khadija ( the Prophets first wife), Asiya ( Pharohs wife), Maryam ( Jesus mother) and Fatima the prophets daughter.
