The Most Important Question

I start smiling and giggling, this scene is just too funny – two grown boys, quite tall for their age, pleading with their petite mom to get a new fluffy puppy – so adorable!

Lucas sees me laughing and starts staring at the floor, slightly blushing. He then goes back to play with the puppy, while I talk to the woman and go through the adoption process.

Lucas & Marcus start arguing about what to name the puppy. "I want to name him Blacky because his fur is black!" one brother says. "Oh yeah? Then why don't we just call you Whitey??" the other replies, laughing.

Finally everything is done and they are ready to take their new friend home. The mother and Marcus go out to the parking lot, walking to the car, but Lucas stays a bit behind.

"Hey, so, uhm, I might need a little help with the puppy." he says, fidgeting with his hands. "Well if you want, I can recommend some of my colleagues to help you with anything you need." "Oh, no, I kind of wanted help from you, actually..." Oh. OOooh. Now I get it. I can feel my cheeks going red like crazy! "Sure" I stutter. "Here, I'll give you my number and you can call me any time you have a question." I write my number down on a piece of paper, give it to him and then he waves goodbye, smiling.

Later that night, my phone rings. "Hello? I have a question – will you go out with me?" 🙈
