I was really interested in his file, he had Down syndrome, autism, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He knows some Sign Language, but is also semi verbal. Nathan is seven years old, and is full of life. He loves to swim, and sing his own songs. Nathan particularly enjoys playing with dogs and spending time with his family. He can be slightly stubborn, but most of the time he's very easy going. He likes to say rawer, and ooh burr. I smiled when I read he loved to eat two waffles with syrup every morning, and of course a glass of orange juice. The more I read the more excited I got to work with him.
"Who drank all my orange juice?" I heard from the doorway, interrupting my thoughts.
"The cutest little boy ever." I looked up with a smile, "He's a new client of mine, and I was just reading about him." I told her as she came over and sat in front of me on the desk.
"Ooh, work talk." She mocked me. I rolled my eyes.
"Yes work talk." I laughed. "Anyway what are you doing here? Not that I mind of course." She smiled.
"I came here to show you this!" She popped off my desk and reached into her purse and pulled out four pieces of paper. "TADA!" She practically screamed. Holding out two round trip plane tickets to Calgary, Canada; a hotel reservation, and our car rental. "So?" She asked.
"Oh my god, baby! You bought them? I didn't think we were going our trip so soon! I'm so excited!" I ran into her, holding her close to me, embracing her warm body that smelled sweet of her perfume.
"Well it's not until the end of next month, because it's warmer then." She chuckled. "But I just couldn't wait any longer! But I know we have a lot of preparation to do before then. But we have almost two months to do everything! I hope you're not mad..." Her mood switched from exhilarated to concerned in point two seconds.
"No, I'm not mad at all! It all sounds perfect." I assured her as I rubbed her thigh. She smiled and went back to her excited self. "How about you and I go to Red Robin for dinner to celebrate? We can even just get cheesy fries and root beer floats if you wanted." I squeezed her thigh and gently kissed her nose. "How's that sound love bug?"
"Sounds amazing to me!" She responded.
"Great, let me just clean up this mess on my desk, and write our trip date on the calendar in the main office. Shall I just meet you at home then we can go out from there? I asked. She nodded. I hugged her tightly, then kissed her sweetly, and said goodbye. I love watching her leave, because she always turns around when she reaches the doorway to smile at me, and give that sweet enthused wave, before actually leaving. I finished picking up, and put Nathan's file away. After I wrote my vacation date on the main calendar I grabbed my bag and put on my jacket and left. I am so excited to tell Olivia all about Nathan. I hope she'll be excited for me, but knowing her, she always is.
