michael had no intention of making a ton of close friends and going out every night while at college. and he's succeeded with that so far. he has one close friend, billie. she's a bit odd and out there, but hey, she gets michael better than he gets himself. "i don't think you get how much harder animating is!" billie yelled at michael, jokingly of course. the two walked into the familiar coffee shop on campus. michael looked at her like she was insane but decided just to not argue. michael set his laptop and, very trusty, sketchbook down on a table near a large window.
"the usual?" billie asked him, and michael nodded. he ordered the same thing every time. michael opened his laptop and went to continue typing on his report about how graphic design started, but his focus was shifted to the front door of the building. in walked calum hood, who caused immediate disgust to michael. he tried to ignore the maori boy, but of course, he had to shoot michael a cheesy smile. calum did not like michael, michael did not like calum. you could say the feeling was mutual. michael typed away on his essay, but he still felt calum's dark eyes sinking into him. when billie came back, he shut his laptop and took a sip of his warm drink. he whispered to billie that calum was bugging him, so billie turned around and just stuck her tongue out at calum. "what good is that going to do?" michael shouted, chuckling quietly.
billie and michael stayed at the coffee shop only for an hour until they parted ways and got back to their dorms. michael had his third and final class tomorrow with calum. he was not excited at all for it, but calum was. calum took ever opportunity possible to get under the red haired boy's skin.
as soon as michael got to his dorm and realized his roommate wasn't home, he decided to strip out of his clothes in the middle of the small living area and walk to the shower. michael had no classes earlier that day, so him and billie just stayed out and did nothing all day. somehow, he still came home with a pounding headache. michael decided he would lay in bed and procrastinate on doing his paper for the class that he enjoyed the least. he stayed up all night reading a book that he was given from his mother a few years prior. he's read it over and over again, but it never seems to get old for michael.
the book was all he had left from before her death last year. his father had no connection to either of them and michael could not take all of her belongings, so they were given to her extended family that absolutely hates michael. his mother and father's family wanted nothing to do with him whatsoever, so he decided not to think about it. michael also had a brother, cameron, who wanted to move from australia to america when their mother died. michael missed him with every fiber in him, but they only could speak through video chat and texting. michael always wondered what it is like to have a loving and completely functional family.
(a/n) lowercase IS intentional. and i probably will eventually do both third person and first. this is short, but i do plan to make a lot longer chapters as the story progresses and gets more interesting! :~)
