Chapter 19

Samantha P.O.V

I woke up.

Zayn was still next to me.

Good

He didn't try and sneak out again.

I got up to take a shower.

When I got out Zayn was waiting for me.

"Come on let's call and see if we can get any information." He said eagerly.

"Well good morning to you too." I said.

He laughed a little bit.

"Come on babe."

We walked into the kitchen.

Zayn sat down on the couch with his phone.

"Ready."

I nodded and sat down next to him.

He dialed the police station.

"Yello." Said a gruff voice.

This was it.

"Um yes we were wondering if we could get any information on the case where the girl was found in the ally and a man was caught running away." Said Zayn.

"Who wants to know?

"I am the man that caught that man running and my girlfriend and I would like to know what happened." Zayn responded.

"Ok. Here. I will send your call to the man in charge of that investigation."

Zayn and I silently cheered.

"Hello? You guys were the ones that caught Gorgie Backer?"

"Yes. Well I did but my girlfriend was the one who called the police."

"Oh. It was you guys. Well thank you. This man was a wanted criminal."

"Can you maybe give us some more information? Like about the girl. And what he was doing to make her scream."

"I usually wouldn't tell you this but since you were such a big help we'll spill."

"Great!" Zayn said.

"Ok so the man you caught is Gorgie Backer. He is wanted for 3 murders and a robbery. The girl you found is named Karli Remylyns. She is Gorgie's sister. But when he became wanted she married and changed her last name. Got it so far?"

Zayn looked at me and I nodded.

"So far so good."

"A day before the incident Gorgie called Karli to tell her that he was in town and that they should meet up at his hotel which he also told her. Since Karli was his only family he thought that he could tell her everything and have her keep it a secret. But you see Karli was in some financial troubles. She was broke and owed a lot of money that her job wouldn't cover for. So when she found out that there was a reward of 50,000 pounds for the person who could turn in Gorgie, she figured that if she told she could get the money and he would never know. So she called us. Told us everything. We were going to arrest Gorgie that morning. But the problem was that Gorgie was listening in on the conversation. He came to Karli's apartment to see her and heard everything. That made him mad. So that night when Karli's husband left for work, Gorgie forced Karli into the ally to shoot her before he left the country to stay safe from the police. That's when she screamed and you guys found her. And the rest is all downhill from there." The man on the phone finished up.

I was in shock.

I heard about Gorgie Backer on the news but I never knew about his sister.

And that she lived so close.

That is scary.

Zayn was in shock also.

"Wow. Oh. Is Karli ok?"

"Yes she is fine. Just a little traumatized."

"What about the money. Does she get it?"

"No. You guys get it."
