She is beautiful. Emerald green eyes, long, flowing, honey-blonde hair. Those cheekbones, that smile, the laugh of an angel. Tender hands that caress with the caution of a mother holding her young. Long, slender legs that carry her perfect hourglass figure. The amount of perfection that she holds within her fragile body is unremarkable.
She walks towards me and holds her arms out wide.
"Markus Holden Renner get your ass over here and give your best friend a hug!"
I roll my eyes and smirk as I walk over to her and wrap my arms around her. It's been two months since Rikki and I have seen each other. She left back in the middle of June on a trip to California. Today is her first day back at school since flying back to our small town in The Middle of Nowhere, Montana. I missed her so much. Her face just makes my day brighter. She would never know that though. I am completely, 100% friend zoned. We have been best friends since seventh grade whenever I tripped on the steps of the middle school and she caught my glasses before they could hit the ground. Ever since then we've been inseparable.
I realize that the whole time I have been standing here, about five minutes, I haven't let go of Rikki. She doesn't seem to notice though because she keep rambling on about everything we need to catch up on.
"- The Voice, the Hunger games series, our movie nights are WAY overdue, we need to stalk Scarlett Johansson's twitter account, go to the lake-" and it just keeps going on and on and on until she realizes that I haven't said a word since she arrived.
"What's up? Why are you so quiet?"
"Oh it's nothing, just a bad day I
guess."
She rolls her eyes, "Bad day? You are finally seeing me, your best friend, after two months apart and it's just a 'bad day'?"
She looks sincerely hurt. Thankfully, the class bell rings and we are overtaken by all of her other friends squealing and giggling about her trip. I slowly walk away and I know that she sees me. I can see it in her eyes, those green crystals, that I just majorly fucked up. She shakes her head and walks away, tears streaming down her cheeks.
