Chara was not acting like her usual self like from the game, she was... different. Nothing she did was at all like how you imagined. You saw Sans at a tree also, sporting you a worried look. And just like that, Chara vanished. "Sans!", you said as you both met up in between your hiding zones. "What... Was that", he said grimly, looking you in the eyes; into your soul. You simply looked into the dark sockets, filled with shock. "I don't know why-how?!" You two just stood leaning on the trees in silence. 

"I am not going to let her hurt you, (y/n)..." Sans said, looking longingly at you. "You..." He started, then looked away "...You're the one person who gets me... You care (y/n)..." He took your hand. There was silence between the two of you, like you understood. Like there was no need for words.

"She has hurt so many people I love..." Sans started "...My friends, my neighbors, my brother..."
"Hey hey hey, Sans" You gently put a hand on his cheek. It was chilled from it being cold outside. He looked at you the same way he always does. Protectively, caringly, pursuing... gazing at you like you're all that matters, like he'll do anything for you, to have you.

"Chara... that girl... that was probably a ghost or something..." It looked like Sans was about to cry.

"...(y/n).." There were tears in his eyes; he hugged you tightly, placing his head on your shoulder " I-I can't lose anyone else". He sniffled quietly "...I can't lose you..."

You hugged him back. He was surprisingly warm, and you could feel the rise and fall of his chest as if he were breathing. Honestly, you didn't really want to question him about how a skeletal body works, you just went with it.

After a long, comforting hug, Sans calmed down. You two decided to get some groceries from the store before heading home. Seeing Chara had not escaped your mind... it was alarming. But you tried to shake the thought out of your head whenever you thought of it. Paps wasn't home; Sans had told you that he was over at a friends house for a slumber party. Sounds like him you thought. You and Sans had some leftovers from going to Grillby's then watched The cooking show starring Mettaton.

"--And then we add in the last ingredient. YOU!!!" Said Mettaton threw the TV at someone in the crowd. Everyone laughed. "--Haha!! I'm just kidding darlings~! It's vanilla we add"

You eyes started to get heavy and... oh the couch was cozy. "Youuuu falling asleep there, (y/n)?" Sans said, playing with the ends of your hair. "...Mhmmm~~..." you murmured drowsily, nodding. Oh gosh that was just making it worse!! No no, stay awake! Wow... he is... so warm. And he smells like... fresh... linin...... maybe I can just close my eyes for just... a... bit...

The next thing you know, you're asleep lying against Sans, the TV just a faint sound to you now...
