"Ima raise you. Too black, too strong, beautiful. Tell the truth, let you know what women go through."

Queens, New York"Duane!.....Duane!" I cried out as he walked away.
I've always imagined my first child to be Duanes. I can't believe he's just walking out on his responsibility like that.
After all that he's been through with his father you'd think he'd actually want to stick around to see his child grow up.
I exited the bathroom gripping the test as tears poured out of my eyes.
"Hey boo, what's wrong? Aw hell, what bitch I gotta cut today?" My best friend Tiffany asked.
I looked at her and she saw the tears streaming down.
"Asj, really, what's wrong?" She asked seriously.
I showed her the test and her jaw dropped.
"Duane knows?" She asked.
I nodded my head and she gave off this look like she just solved a puzzle.
"Oh his no good ass. I know he didn't say it won't his."
"Yup."
"Fuck him. I'll be this baby's daddy if you want me too." She said causing us both to laugh. That's what I love about her. No matter what mood I'm in, she can always make me feel better.
"Now watch how your hoe ass 'friends' gone be all on his jock." She said.
"Tiffany, for the last time Cheryl and them not hoes. You should give them a chance." I said ,telling her for about the hundredth time this year.
"Yeah, yeah. I can't trust em hoes."
We walked into our next class and just to my luck, it was one of the many classes I had with Duane.
"Mr. Kane, can I sit somewhere else today please?" I asked in the sweetest voice I could manifest.
"Unless you brought one from home, I don't see another empty chair. Have a seat." He said causing the class to laugh.
I sat down beside Duane, putting my head down on my books. It felt like the class would never end until the loud speakers came on.
"Will all basketball players and cheerleaders report to the gym at this time. I repeat will all basketball players and cheerleaders report to the gym at this time."
I hopped out of my seat and scurried down the hall to my locker.
After I retrieved my cheerleading bag, I went to the gym and got dressed.
When I came out, I saw that Duane, Jalen, and the rest of the basketball team were staring at me.
Pretty soon the rest of the school started piling in on the bleachers.
I looked back over to Duane and I saw him hugged up with my 'friend' Lisa.
I walked over to them and pulled him back by his shoulder.
"Wh-"
"What the fuck is this?" I asked Duane, while gripping onto my necklace tight.
"I'm single. I do what I want." He said turning back around. I turned him around again only to be pushed back by Lisa.
"Yo, don't putcho' hands on her." Duane said to her. I tried to hold back my smile. Even though he was acting stupid before, I think he's coming around.
"And you," He said turning back towards me, "leave me alone yo. You should've known we was done the moment you let some nigga fuck you." He said loud enough so everyone around us could hear.
"Fuck you Duane. You know damn well I didn't do that."
"I always knew she was a hoe." Cheryl said.
"Bitch-" I started, but I ended up throwing a punch instead.
She fell to the floor as teachers noticed what was going on and came to grab me. Someone helped her up and she tried to come at me but she was held back just as I am. By now, everyone in the gym was watching.
"You lil' hoe. Oh and incase you didn't know, you're not supposed to fight while you're pregnant." She said smirking.
I turned towards the bleachers to see everyone looking at me and whispering. I looked at Duane and I could've sworn I seen a look of sympathy flash over his face.
"She can't, but I can. Try me bitch. On god that's yo ass." Tiffany said, stepping out if the locker room in her basketball uniform.
"Nah Tiff. Don't even worry about it. I'm out."
I grabbed my bag, and took it to my locker to collect the rest of my belongings until Tiffany walked up.
"Those bitches won't yo friends. They was all just waiting for you and yo nigga to break up just so they can get they quick ass come up. Fuck all them though. Where you going?" She asked, glancing at my bags.
"I'm leaving Tiff. I'll finish school from home or something. Being here isn't worth it. I'll raise my baby by my damn self." I said closing my locker.
"Come on Asj. If you leave, these bitches gone think they won!" She said walking with me.
"Look I don't thin-"
"Wait up!" Duane called, running up to us.
"Can we talk alone?" He asked Tiffany.
"Nope, whatever you gotta say to her you can say to me too."
"Fine. Look Asj, I love you. But we can't be together. And I'll help you find out who's baby this really is-"
"You know what, shut the fuck up Duane! I've always been your 'everything', your 'wifey', your 'future' up until the moment I said I was pregnant. And you know you're gonna be in our baby's life weather you like it or not. I'll get a DNA test just to prove your dumbass wrong," I stopped for a second then continued, "And from here on out, if it doesn't have anything to do with the baby, don't talk to me."
"Fine, I don't give a fuck. Call me when the baby's born."
