"I can't believe you caused a scene like that Denise."

"It wasn't my fault. You was over there talking about 'oh God, she's dancing with the devil, Jesus fix it, Jesus help her find herself, only you know the right way!' You don't even call on Jesus that much in church!"

Denise walked into her room and her mother followed her.

"Stop following me Ma!"

"You need to listen to me!"

"I think I've listened to you long enough! I knew going on that trip was a bad idea. You just love to make my life a living hell! I'm tired of it, tomorrow after our little 'family vacation' is over I'm leaving. I've had enough of you."

She thought that spending time with her family would relieve stress, but all it did was cause more. If Denise stayed with Delores any longer she'd get grey hairs.

"Denise, come here!" Her father called out.

"Yes Daddy?"

"All your mother is trying to say is...be careful, please?"

"Alright, I will."

She went in her room and began to unpack. Once she finished, she gave Stephen a call.

"Hey Wardell."

"Denise! I'm glad to hear your voice."

"Aw that's sweet," she smiled.

"What are you doing today?"

"Nothing, wanna go get a smoothie or something?"

"I love smoothies! Meet you there?"

"Sounds like a plan." He smiled like she could see him.

"Your total will be $23.58." The cashier smiled.

Denise pulled out her wallet before Stephen stopped her.

"What are you doing?" He laughed.

"Paying for these smoothies, duh."

"Put your money back."

"Wardell, I can't let-"

"Put it back in your wallet please."

She smiled. A man had never made her put her money back before, she  was just so used to paying for her own things.

"What do you wanna do after this?" He asked.

She tapped her finger on her chin.

"Let's go to the skating rink!" She smiled.

"Skating rink it is."
