She looks at me with those big gray eyes. Only they aren't as vibrant as they once were. They're filled with jealous, sadness, and rage.
"Niall.."
"You don't have to say anything Piper. Just come inside with me, please."
"Okay." She's on the verge of tears. It takes a lot of her strength to pull herself out of the car. She's weak from heartache, I can tell. I hate seeing her this way. So sad, so lost. She follows me through the parking lot, into the apartment, never leaving my side.
"Go put on some of my pajamas. In my room, second drawer. I should have some pants and you can just wear that shirt." I instruct, unlocking the door.
She walks off into my room and I let out the sigh I've been holding in since Will showed up at the bar. I keep asking myself why he would do this to her. Why would he love another girl, but not Piper? What's wrong with Piper? Nothing. Nothing is wrong with her. She's everything anyone could ever want. He's too busy being a jackass to see that.
"Niall!" I hear her scream from my room. Without hesitation I run to her aide.
"What? What is it? What's wrong?" I look around the room, but I don't see anything. I raise a brow when I glance over at her.
"There's...there's a spider." She stutters, pointing to a small black dot that's sitting on top of the dresser. I flick it off and try not to laugh.
"It's gone. It's okay." I bite my lip, hiding my amusement.
"Don't laugh..." She warns.
"Okay. I won't." And I swallow my chuckles before they escape. I didn't notice that she was shaking before. It's not because of that spider, that's for sure.
She begins to cry. All of her anger and frustration that she's kept inside this whole time is seeping out of her now.
"No...Piper don't. Don't cry. It's okay." I rub my hand on her back.
"I-I'm sorry. I--I can't help it."
"I know you can't. Forget about him. It'll make this easier."
"He's already forgotten about me. So I don't get why it's hard for me to let him go. It seems as if everyone ends up leaving me sooner or later." She sobs, wiping her tears away. But more quickly replace the old ones.
"Hey. Look at me." I place her head between my hands, rubbing her cheek with my thumb. "Just look at me. I'm right here. I'm not leaving."
"Don't leave me. Promise?" I can faintly hear her whisper. Her pleading for me to stay is slowly killing me. I can't tell her no, not like I wanted to anyway.
"I promise." And I mean it.
I stare at her lips. I want to make her forget all about him, but I don't think that would be a good idea. But I also need to stop over thinking my actions.
"Niall...Wh--" I cut her off. I bring my lips slowly to meet hers, and she doesn't pull away when we collide. I kiss her bottom lip first, then I do the same for the top. I have been wanting to taste her swollen lips for awhile now. They're better than I imagined, and I want to kiss her until she's weak in the knees. I break away, leaving her wanting more.
"Sleep with me tonight." She begs. I can't resist. She pulls me on to the bed with her. She wraps her arms around my waist and lays her head on my chest.
"Goodnight Piper." I bend down slightly to kiss her forehead. I brush a few strands of hair out of her face. She hums a "goodnight" and drifts off to sleep.
