Piper's POV:

As soon as Niall leaves, I get out of bed and go into the kitchen. I look through the cabinets, but they have absolutely no food in here. I guess two men don't cook for each other, so I give up.

"Let's see what's on TV today." I say aloud to no one. I decide to watch "21 Jump Street" only because Channing Tatum is in it. To my surprise, I end up laughing so hard that my side hurts.

"What are you watching?" Derrick asks as he enters the apartment. I throw myself off the couch and quickly step into the bedroom. I can't let him see me without any pants on.

"Sorry, sorry! I promise I didn't see anything I wasn't suppose to." He calls from the living room.

Slipping on some of Niall's sweatpants, I return to Derrick.

"Where's Niall?" He asks when I appear next to him.

"With you. Right?"

"What do you mean? He's not with me." He checks the fridge, pulling out the milk carton.

"Oh, well he said you texted him about that project."

"What project?"

"The latest one... for your construction company." I say slowly, trying to piece together everything.

"We haven't had a new project in weeks. My dad's thinking about closing down the company." Derrick stares at me with a confused expression on his face and a glass of milk in his hand.

"But Niall said..."

"Well he lied, then."

"Why would he lie about work?"

"Don't ask me. Maybe he's doing something else today?"

"Or someone else." I mumble.

"What?"

"Genesis called him."

"Fuck. Why would he go back to her when he has you?"

"Can you tell me a little about what happened between them?" I ask, sitting down on the couch. I picture them together, having sex on this couch like they did a couple days ago.

"I don't know if you want to hear..."

"Just tell me!" I yell. Derrick sits next to me and runs his fingers through his hair.

"Genesis is a friend of Sara's, my girlfriend. You met her at the bar, right? Anyway, Sara brought her to a party one night at my buddy Xander's house. Well, when Niall met Genesis, he kept saying that he was gonna take her home with him. And I told him not to, just because she was my girlfriend's best friend. The whole night Niall was flirting with her, and Genesis is really easy. So she believed that Niall was genuine and sweet and she let him take advantage of her. I think they went into the bathroom and did stuff, and then they went home together."

"So the next day, Niall told her to get out. And she thought they were dating or some shit. But Niall kept telling her to leave and never talk to him again. There was this huge fight between them and I had to calm him down because I thought he was gonna hurt her. That's why Niall treats her like shit when he talks to her. Recently, she's come back into the picture. And even though he doesn't really like her, he likes her body."

I want to vomit. I thought we were starting to get closer and serious, but apparently I'm wrong. So wrong. Am I just like Genesis? Is he going to tell me to leave too?

"How many girls has Niall been with?" I ask, though I don't really want to know.

"I can't keep track of that." Derrick whispers, looking away from me.

I feel like I can't breathe. Niall isn't who I thought he was. I thought he was amazing and caring, but he's really a womanizer who could care less about anyone. What was I thinking? I just met him, and I've already told him my secrets and gave myself up to him. I've told him mostly everything, and I trusted him.

He's probably fucking Genesis right now, thinking I will never find out. He probably thinks I'm a stupid, damaged girl. But I am, aren't I?

"Every time we go to the bar, which is every weekend... and some week nights, he picks out a random girl and brings her back here." I hear Derrick explain.

My chest hurts, like a pile of bricks are laying on me. I want to cry, but I don't want to waste my tears on someone who doesn't deserve it.

"Where are you going?"

I didn't even realize I was walking out of the apartment. My thoughts are crowding my mind and I can't think straight. I can hear Derrick's footsteps behind me, so I quicken my pace. Where am I going? I don't know, I just want to get away from here.

"Piper! Please stop! I'm sorry, I just thought you should know the truth. C'mon don't go." Derrick calls after me.

I stop, turning to face him. "Leave me alone! I knew I didn't belong here. I don't belong anywhere! No one wants me, no one needs me. Why can't I just be loved for once in my life? But no, I don't get love because... because I don't even fucking know! I am so stupid for believing him... I can't stay here, Derrick. I'd rather kill myself than stay here with that prick." I don't believe my words, but maybe that's enough to get him to stop following me.

"Where are you going to go, Piper?" He walks up to me, but I take a couple steps back.

"I have to go back to Will."

Niall's POV:

I zip up my jeans and fix my hair with my fingers. Genesis is still laying on the bed with a stupid grin on her face.

"I knew you'd come back to me." She laughs, wrapping herself up with the sheets.

"Fuck off. I have to go check on Piper."

"Why do you even like her?"

"Because. I don't know if I even like her like that. You know I don't do girlfriends... or love for that matter. Niall Horan does not do romance."

"Uh huh. Keep telling yourself that. Hey, tell the girl I say hi." She is so fucking annoying.

The buzzing in my pocket gets my attention before I can tell her to fuck off again. I pull it out and motion for Genesis to keep her mouth shut.

"Hello? Derrick, what's up?"

"You've fucked up big time." He says, hanging up.
