Whilst he lay dead on the floor, she sits there sobbing next to him, realising what she'd done. Stuck in the moment of her husbands death watching his life pass her by. She drops the gun and watches it as it gets drenched in his blood. In disbelief of her husbands death, she drags him into the rain where it splatters down as if it knows to wash away the stream of blood left behind...
It was only a matter of time before somebody would figure out what she had done.
With thousands of thoughts rambling through her head, she wipes her fingerprints from the gun, grabs her belongings and runs away... She runs faster and faster until she eventually comes to a halt. What is she thinking? She can't run away from this! Someone will eventually find her husbands body and the truth will all come out... But she had to take the chance...
After a while she finds her eyelids slowly closing and her bones getting weaker and weaker. As the sunset goes down she finds an old hotel to spend the night. As she opens up the creaky door the receptionist gives her an uneasy smile. Or at least what she thought was a smile. She had a weird feeling about this place but she just couldn't put her finger on what it was that just made her feel so uncomfortable.
"Hello dear" said the receptionist.
With dried up tears upon her face, she replied "Hi, can I just get a room for one night?".
The receptionist slowly took off her glasses and took a good look at her acquaintance.
And in the most curious voice asked; "Veronica, Veronica White?".
She stood there in shock.
