I started a few weeks later than what school actually started. My mom wanted me to help unpack before I got too much homework. My teacher was Ms. Heathcock. She was a fairly nice lady. But like any teachers she had her days of being mean.

I didn't know at the time, but the first boy I met would soon become someone I truly didn't like.

I did make a new best friend however. His name was Carlos. He got me to join Mathletes. Now I'm not so good at math.

One of my favorite memories with him is when his parents invited me to go to Chucks Cheeses with them. That was also one of the best days of my life. I was having too much fun with my new best friend to care about the world.

He introduced me to this girl named Kaitlyn. He told me that her parents were one of the richest people in that town. I didn't believe it.

One day, while I was waiting outside the school for the buses to come she came up to me and asked me if I want to go out with her. I never met her before then. But being the new kid once again I figured it would help to I said yes.

I joined the basketball team. I was actually quite good. We made it to the third round of the championships. There was only five.

In the second round I scored two 3 point shots back to back to secure a win for us. Once again I was a hero.

I didn't realize it at the time, but God blessed me with good athleticism.

I went to stay the night with one of my teammates one time. We then walked to one of the nicest neighborhoods there. I didn't realize till we got to where we were going that Kaitlyn lived there. She had the biggest house on the street.

She came outside after about an hour. I was shooting hoops with my friend.

That night was the night I had my first hug from a girl. I know. A HUG! I was nervous. I don't know why but I was. And to be honest, it wasn't even that great of a hug.

The next day she hugged me again. It was still bad. We had the same class and anytime we had to partner up we would.

For reading hour one day, our teacher decided to have go to the library. And of course Kaitlyn and I sat next to each other. That was also the first time I held hands with a girl.

That was much better than hugging.

We went on a movie field trip about a month after us dating and we sat by each other there. We held hands the whole time. After the movie as we were waiting on the bus our teacher came up to us.

"I saw you two holding hands during the movie. I'm telling her mom about this." she said.

I almost started laughing because it sounded like a little kid telling on someone. Nevertheless, I was still scared. For a reason I couldn't name.

Although nothing came of it, from what I thought, Kaitlyn broke up with me a few days later.

Remember that boy that I didn't like? Well that's because he started dating her. But I got over it.

That school amazed me though. It was a really wealthy school system. Anytime it was pizza day for lunch it came from Papa Johns. And when they had their tutoring nights McDonald's was bought for every kid.

Kentucky soon became my favorite place to live. But then my mom brought my sister and I in the dining room of our house to tell us something.

She said, "We're moving back to Illinois."
