Hurt Me

I woke again, and the door was still open. He was on the floor in the room, stuck in a nightmare again, pleading for someone to stop.

"Please... No more testing... No more tests please it hurts..." His "Experiment" scar was newly opened, and his knuckles were bloody. The concrete pillar next to him had fresh blood on it at about punching height.

He sat up gasping, his unnatural eyes literally glowing. He started to sob, arms wrapped around him, head resting on his knees.

"Please... No... No..." He didn't seem to notice that I was there. I reached out and touched his shoulder, and he whipped around, startled. "Oh." He growled. "It's just you."

"I-I'm sorry. The door was open again and I-"

"Go back to your room. I'll come get you when I'm good and ready. And dont try to escape. That won't be fun for either of us."

I obliged, and sat down on the futon, thinking about what I'd just seen. After about ten minutes or so, I heard him call me.

"Mark. Come here, please."

I walked back to the room, wondering what horrors he had for me next.

His hands were shackled to the ceiling above him, and the whip, the dog-flail, some knives, and a lit candle were in neat rows on the table. "Your turn."

"No."

"Do it. The keys are in my hand, I can always put you up here instead." He looked at me, eyes dead.

"Just stop. Stop all of this."

"Suit yourself." Before I could blink, he'd unlocked himself, and grabbed my wrists.

"No!" I struggled, but I was locked in tight. He ran his hand along his choice of tools. "Fine! I'll do it! But I get the keys."

"I don't think so. I gave you a chance. And" He hit me across the face with every next word. "You. Didn't. Take it." He turned back to the table. "Fool."

He picked up a knife, and pressed the tip to my chest, cutting a big diagonal gash.

"No! There's good in you! I've seen it!" I pleaded.

He set the knife down, and got into a fighting stance. "You're wrong." He started to use my battered body as a punching bag. He seemed to have broken his hand punching the wall, because every impact seemed to hurt him as well.

"Fool. Gave you. A chance. Didn't Take it." He grinned through his pain.

I screamed, and begged him to stop. He just hit harder.

"I've grown attached to you Mark. That's why I gave you a warning instead of making good my threat to kill you slowly. Killing you, will let me destroy any humanity I have left. I'll give myself over completely to the animal I was made to be."

He- He was in love with me?

His lips were on mine, soft and loving. Then they were gone. "A goodbye kiss. I'm going to kill you. I'm going to kill you, and whatever is left of Sean William 'Jack' McLoughlin here and now." He hit harder, and harder; crying out with each blow. "I. Was. Never. Human!"
