I walked out of the house, bag in hand, ready to leave.

He stood at the edge of the cliff gazing out over the water.

"Jack...?" I set down the bag and walked up to stand next to him.

"I grew up here... And now... I'm leaving for good... I just want to make sure I never forget this place..."

I hugged him, pulling his gaze away from the horizon. "Hey, what's the status of this place? Monetarily, I mean?"

"I own it. my parents owned it before me, and it's entirely paid off."

"Then we can always come back. You know, to get away from the city life." I squeezed him tight, and when I pulled away, he looked like a child seeing Disneyland for the first time.

"Really...?"

"Really. Now come on. I don't know where the car keys are." I kissed his forehead, and he went inside. I took his place, staring out at the horizon.

His voice echoed off the cliff and hills a few moments later. "Mark! Get your ass in this car before we miss our flight! You do want to go home, don't you?"

Home. I was going home. I ran to the car, tossing the bag in the trunk, and sliding into the backseat.

"Come sit up front." Jack frowned

"I cant rest my head on your shoulder if I'm linear with you. It'll push you over and distract you."

"Fine." He put on the radio. It was a station with traditional music. Some song about  a guy named Darcy who's donkey got drunk and won a race.

He tossed something back at me  after he fished around in the glove-box as we stopped at a red light. It was my wallet. "You'll be needing that."

"Oh. Thanks Jack."

We sat in silence until we got to the airport.

"We're here." Jack got out of the car, and I exited as well. We grabbed our bags, and he pulled my phone out of the front pocket of my flannel.

"What're you doing?" I asked.

"Calling a town truck to take the car back to the house. I don't want to pay for airport parking."

"Smart."

The tow truck came and went, and returned within the hour. Jack paid the man, and we headed into the airport.

"Alright. Now the ticket says gate three." I looked around like an idiot until Jack dragged me in the right direction.

"Over here. Hurry."

We were the last to board the plane. We managed to find two seats next to each other, and sat down with a sigh.

Ladies and gentlemen and any non-binary folks, this is your pilot speaking. Please fasten your seat belts and prepare for takeoff.

We fastened our seat belts, and the plane started to move. This was it. I was going home. And my lover was leaving his, to be with me.

Jack didn't pull his gaze from the window, softly crying, until we were out over the ocean, and Ireland was out of sight far behind us.
