"Um...there is one problem." Mark winced as the boys decided to (finally) stand up off the snowy floor.
"What is it?"
"Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaans." He twiddled his fingers nervously.
"...fuck." They walked over to the pile of ash that they'd conveniently forgotten about. Pardon them, they were just busy having a grand old time.
"Um...shit what do we do?"
"WE BRING BACK HIS SOUL." Jack said creepily, wiggling his fingers.
"Right. How?"
"Determination. If it works for us, it'll work for him!" Jack declared.
"Um. Should we just...restart? Maybe?" Jack blinked in surprise.
"Oh. That's... A much better plan. I mean, mine probably would've worked, but that's a nice plan too." Jack admitted, shrugging.
"Oh, and, that way we could..." He whispered something in Mark's ear. They both nodded.
"Let's do this."
------------------------------------------------------
"What...it never turns this early!" Sans exclaimed, examining "Jack's" black heart.
"Probably because it's my first time killing." Mark said casually.
"W-what?" Both gasped, but you could tell Jack was acting.
"Hahahahaha, something about evil nefarious plots and crap." Mark recited blandly. Jack snickered.
"Well if you're just gonna do that, why'd I bother acting surprised?" Sans complained. He remembered he was killed last reset, but was surprised when he realized Mark wasn't going to do the same thing again.
"Oh. Sorry." Mark shrugged nervously, before his body shuddered.
"Oh, looks like I'm back. Time to kill you all aga-" Chara started, before Mark shuddered again.
"Yeah, yeah, skip the chat and let's go." He complained, stabbing his blackened soul with the knife. He convulsed and flopped to the ground, and Chara wailed from within him. They were forced to flee his body in order to preserve themselves. Quickly, Jack ran over and removed the knife from Mark's soul. He then proceeded to hand him a Monster Candy. Mark promptly ate it and skirted death yet again. Of course, Chara attempted to immediately invade his body again, but found that they couldn't.
Why...how are you...WHY?!
"Because fuck you that's why." Mark replied nonchalantly. He was keeping them out purely with the power of his determination. He was hella strong.
"Now that's pretty damn neat." Jack chuckled, as Chara flew away in frustration. Mark blushed.
"Heh, it's nothing." Mark shook his head.
"Um, thanks for saving me. I think." Sans smiled lazily.
"No problem, buddy. It's supposed to be a real fun ride this time. Everybody lives! Astounding, really." Mark smiled.
"But...didn't you already kill monsters down here?" Sans pointed at Mark's black heart.
"Amazing what some dirt can do to a soul." Mark grinned, rubbing his sleeve on his heart. A streak of dirt fell away, revealing a pristine red soul. Sans shook his head.
"Miracles. You two kids are just living miracles."
"Thank you, thank you. We're here all timeline." Jack joked, chuckling.
"Well, I better go ahead. Come find me when you're ready to hide behind some conveniently-shaped lamps." Sans smirked, vanishing back into the woods. Mark hesitantly grasped Jack's hand when he left. Jack tugged on Mark's hand and used it to gain leverage and kiss him softly on the lips.
"Okay. Are you ready to go play it right this time?" Jack offered, looking up at Mark hopefully. Mark nodded, sighing in relief. He'd finally done it. He found a way to save Jack, a way to save everybody.
"Game on."A/N: yes hello don't mind my cheesy short ending. An alternate (probs even shorter) ending is next, so yknow you can read it if you want. Thanks for sticking with me so far, I really hope you enjoyed it!
