*Chase's POV*
When Andrew turned the opposite way I knew for a fact that he also was crushing on Rory. It's funny though since she has no clue.
"We should find some transportation." Rachel said suddenly, affectively turning Andrew back around to face us.
"Where can we find a car that actually works? Most cars here have no battery life left or are crashed into each other." I said with my arm tightly secured around Rory's tiny waist.
We all thought for a second. "Isn't there a mall close to here?" Rory said looking up at me.
I rolled my eyes. "Now is not the time to shop"
She smacked my chest lightly and continued. "No, but don't they have cars that you can win in there? Plus we could find a store that has the parts to make that car go again"
We all nodded thinking it over. "What if the mall is infested, and I don't know the whereabouts of a mall around here." Rachel spoke up. "Or if they would have already been ransacked."
"It's the only chance we have for getting a car and if the mall is infested we'll just have to deal with it." Andrew said looking at the floor.
I removed my arm from Rory and clapped my hands. "Alright, lets go raid an infested mall, this is going to be fun." I said sarcastically.
Rachel and Rory rolled their eyes. "So anyone got an idea where the mall would be?" I asked leaning over on the counter.
GAWR, GAWR
We all turned around to see 5 infested through the window. One of the zombies broke the window and reached it's dislocated arm in.
Rachel screamed and we all ran to the backdoor.
"Told you that you shouldn't have shot bullets!" Rory yelled at us when we booked it out of the house.
"Shut up." Andrew and I both yelled back at her simultaneously.
She rolled her eyes, skidding around a corner into an alley. Her and Rachel were in front of Andrew and us since we were running backwards, occasionally blowing the heads off zombies.
A hand grabbed my leg and pulled me to the ground. Kicking the zombie, I tried to reload but another zombie grabbed my gun and got close to my neck.
*Bang, Bang, Bang*
Looking to the side I saw the infected that was about to eat me, fall to the floor. Andrew fired 3 more bullets at the zombie grabbing my leg. Opening my mouth to say thank-you he quickly shut me up. "Thank me later, lets go."
I scrambled to my feet, grabbed my bloody gun, and ran after the girls with Andrew tailing behind.
The zombies have gotten faster since the last time I saw them. Shit...
We ran to the highway. About 7 infected were now chasing us.
"What do we do?" Rachel screamed while jumping over yet another car blocking her path.
We skidded to a stop in front of a bus that went across the width of the road.
"Shit." Andrew cursed while trying to pry the doors open.
"Hurry!" Rachel screamed pacing.
Andrew stopped for a second to give Rachel a look. "No, I was just going to go super slow and wait for THE ZOMBIES TO EAT US, I thought that would be fun!" He yelled at her then continued to ram the doors. They didn't budge and the infected were getting closer.
Rory looked over the side of the over passed and yelled at us ,"Lets jump!"
She took a running start but I grabbed her and made her face me. "Are you crazy?" I asked.
"A little bit but this is the only way, those doors aren't opening plus there is another bus down there that could possibly break our fall."
I shook my head. "Not going to happen."
She stomped on my foot and while I was hunched over in pain, she ran off the side and down onto the top of the bus.
"Crazy." I whispered before following her off the side. She already had moved from the top and was waiting beside it.
I turned in the air so my back hit the bus not my face. The top dented by impact and I rolled off the side. My back ached but I guess that was a given.
Rachel and Andrew jumped down a little while later. Rachel had landed at a weird angle and had twisted her ankle.
"Can you walk?" Andrew asked trying to help Rachel off the bus.
She glared at him and pointed at her ankle. "I don't think it's supposed to look like that."
He carried her bridal style to us and she was cussing at everything she saw. I guess it helped her with the pain.
"Fuck you tree, It's your fucking fault."
GAWR
"Eww." Rory shivered and looked up. Damn that sound was disgusting.
At the top of the overpass was the zombies, twitching uncontrollable and leaning over the side.
We looked at each other and started running.
Smashing open a window, we broke into a house in the suburbs and sat in the top bedroom so we could have a clear view outside.
"So how are we going to find a mall? We are now on the outskirts of the city and the camp covers the center so either we sneak back into the camp and find one or we go to another city entirely." Rory said with her elbows on her knees and her hands holding up her head.
"I think we should just walk to another city." Rachel said leaning on a fireplace to the side. Her ankle was now bandaged with a first-aid kit we found in the bathroom. "If the camp is newly infected then there will be a lot of infected but if we leave to another city, chances are that most zombies have cleared out and moved on."
Rory nodded, "Good point."
"Aright lets do that," I said walking out of the room, "we leave in the morning."
I walked down the stairs to try and find food. There was a creak behind me and I turned from the fridge to see Rory standing there.
She came closer and looked in the cupboards.
"Why did you hate me?" I asked leaning on the counter beside her.
She smiled. "Simple, you were a douche"
"Were?" I raised my eyebrows at her, "What changed?"
She sighed and leaned on the counter next to me. "Every since Leo died you became less, jerky"
"Jerky, really?" I asked.
She laughed. "Yes, Jerky."
We were silent for a moment. Just thinking and staring forward.
"Thanks." she said breaking the silence.
I looked at her, "For what?"
"For always being there for me over the 2 years."
I shrugged, "No problem."
We were silent for about 10 minutes after that, both staring ahead.
Looking over at her, I saw that she was already looking at me. She took a sharp intake of breath clearly knowing exactly what I was thinking. Leaning in closer to her, she closed her eyes, leaning in as well. Our lips brushed and it was like lightening, I, all of a sudden wanted more.
My arms went to her waist, pulling her even closer to me. She wrapped her arms around my neck, dragging me down to her lips. Rory bit my lip. She tasted like vanilla and I just couldn't get enough of it. Parting to take a breath, I looked down at her. She smiled and nodded, forcing her mouth back on mine. I smirked and happily obeyed.
