(Damon Grey)I noticed her. All of her. Defiant. Like she's been hiding behind someone's shadow for too long and it's her time to shine.
I kept my eye on her like I was her companion. I wanted nothing more than to lay a kiss on her lips.
But then, fast like the wind, her eyes met mine. I turned around to look at everyone else who seemed to be having a splendid time touching each other.
Out of nowhere, Nora pointed at me moving her hips around and winking at me. I smiled, looking at her like she's gone nuts.
She sprints away in her high heels gasping like she's seen a ghost. But then I read her lips, she said: Behind you.
I turned around thinking it could be Kurt who had a lot more disturbing thoughts to share but instead it was the curly-haired beauty who excuses herself to get a drink.
I gulped my spit catching a sudden panic attack and jitters rumbling in my stomach craving hunger like a storm needs peace.
My mind went somewhere else and everyone turned into clowns. Is this some kind of joke? What paradox has the universe altered into?
"Ehem!" she says balling her fists to cover her mouth.
"Are you sick?" I asked her.
"No, are you?"
"I'm fine," I replied not showing too much interest.
"I'm Jaide."
"Damon." we shook hands. She looked at me in the eyes but I quickly averted mine to look at her from the neck down.
"Ooo like Damon from Vampire Diaries?"
I have no clue what she's talking about but whatever she's implying sounds familiar.
"Uh, I guess, yea."
"You've never seen Vampire Diaries?"
"I don't watch television."
"How come? Are you a hippie?"
"No, I'd like to keep my brain cells alive."
"Oh, that's nice. Well, I am, sorta," she's trying really hard to break the ice but I'd rather talk to someone who's trying rather than someone who stops their sentence between an awkward silence."Are you from around here?"
"Yes, born and raised."
"What made you come here tonight?"
"My cousin, she thought it'll be cool if we'd go out."
"Where is she?"
"She vanished somewhere over there. I have no idea where she went."
"That's a coincidence because my friend Zoe convinced me to come out tonight too."
"Let me guess, she persuaded you to get 'lucky'?"
"Aha, yes."
"Then we have something in common." Our conversation quickly ended but it was either make things go a little faster or go back to being Audrey's pet.
"Why don't we continue this conversation at your place?" she insisted.
I caught goosebumps. When she leaned her head in to whisper in my ear my body lit up with fire, anger, and pleasure. Her voice was so soothing that I thought I'd fall asleep right then and there.
"Are you sure you're ready for that kind of adventure?" I asked her. She puts her drink down and gives me a hand. I too, put my drink down and grabbed her hand.
"Is there a reason I shouldn't be?"
I was speechless. I couldn't think of a thing to say.
