Dipper wrote furiously in that one little spot for the remainder of the evening. If he hadn't fallen asleep halfway through the night, he probably would've worked until dawn. He only took periodic breaks to grab food, and at one point asked around if anyone knew if there were any books on the supernatural on the ship. Unfortunately, there weren't.
It doesn't make sense, he thought to himself, Bill can't possibly be one of those ghosts; they need to occupy a corpse, and he shows no signs of decay whatsoever. His face was too perfect. Wait, what am I thinking! He ruffled his hair in frustration with himself, getting ink from the pen still in his hand on his face.
Soos walked in at that moment. He chuckled and sat on the bed across from him. "You ok there, dude?" he asked. Without looking up from his work, Dipper nodded as he wiped the black from his face and continued writing. "How can you possibly write so much?" he continued, looking down at the journal and ripped up papers littered around Dipper like a nerd nest. The boy closed his journal for a moment, excited to talk discuss his findings so far.
"How can I not? I have so many theories about what happened yesterday, and what I already know I just had to write down! Maybe they could be a cursed crew that is doomed to haunt the seas for an aeon, or even all of eternity! Or maybe we were sailing over a portal to another world and they escaped with a strong bloodlust, or desire to find new bodies and live forever!" Dipper said excitedly. He sort of doubted the second thing, but anything could be possible after what he saw. Soos looked awestruck. "Woah, that's some heavy stuff! The captain seems pretty knowledgeable on the supernatural, maybe you could ask him," he suggested.
A fire was renewed in the brunette. "But that's the thing," he said, somehow more excited, "How does he know so much about this stuff? Could it have something to do with where he came from before becoming the captain? And why does no one know where he came from?"
Soos nodded thoughtfully. "It's all very suspicious," he agreed, "You know, he's gonna be throwing a celebration of the victory in an hour, maybe you could talk to him then!" Dipper perked up. He hated parties; his being very awkward was only heightened by the social chaos. However, it was a good opportunity to get some answers out of the captain, when he had his guard lowered. He could even possibly catch Cipher if and/or when he was drunk. Maybe discovering more about the captain would lead to answers about the ghosts. He decided to put his thoughts and theories to the back of his mind for a little while and try field research...
Soon, the time of the celebration arrived. It was held on the biggest room on the ship, the recreation area, a few decks down. Dipper hadn't been here much yet, nor did he care to. It was where most of the crew spent their free time playing cards, arm wrestling, or whatever it was they did. It was full of tables with chairs around them, but not quite as crowded as the dining area. It was also very close to the stores of beer, of course.
When Soos and Dipper walked in, they were greeted by quite the scene: Cipher and another, burly crew member, arm wrestling. The two were surrounded by the remainder of the pirates. Dipper worked his way to the front of the crowd. It was extremely bizarre to see a man of Cipher's size in deadlock with a man twice his bulk. He even seemed to be having no trouble at all holding his own, which was the opposite of the other man, whose face was red, and veins were popping out of almost every visible muscle. "What do you think, boys? Should I end it already?" said the captain with smug confidence, no strain to his voice whatsoever. "End it! End it! End it!" they chanted. With almost no effort, the Demon of the North Seas slammed the pirate's arm into the table, breaking it in half and sending a rain of splinters into the air. As the crown cheered, Dipper flipped to an empty page in his journal and wrote down:

Bill Cipher- Onservations
•Extreme strength

As the night wore on, Dipper continued to write in his list, not really caring to take part in the celebration, though a few people pressured him into drinking one or two beers. "Its a party!" they argued. Anyway, after a few hours, his observations looked more like this:
