Chapter Four

Zoe's POV

I was woken up by Alfie diving on top of me screaming, singing and laughing. I groaned and slid further under the covers, it was way too early. "Alfieeeeee,what are you doing? It's seven am!" I said pushing him away. However Alfie wasn't taking no for an answer. He reached under the covers grabbed my legs and pulled me out before sitting me on the bed opposite him. "Today it's my surprise for you, get dressed and ready we are leaving in an hour!" He said laughing at me as I pouted at him, still unhappy from being woken up. He kissed my cheek and left the room. "Get ready Zo!" he called after him.

An hour later and we were at Kings Cross Station waiting for the train to our mystery location. I still had no idea where we were going and Alfie wasn't going to tell me until we arrived at the location's station. A train pulled into the station and the announcement began to play overhead "The train t-" was all I heard as Alfie clamped his hands over my ears so I couldn't hear where we were going. I giggled at his reaction and he kissed the top of head in reply, I grinned up at him and he did the same. Alfie placed his hand on the small of my back and led me onto the train. The train lurched forward as it started up. By instinct I grabbed Alfies hand I order to steady myself, I expected him to release my hand but he didn't and he held on for the rest of the journey. I smiled just at the thought of it.

Alfie's POV

An hour later we had arrived and Zoe finally knew of the location. "BRIGHTON!!! ALF! I've always wanted to go especially cause you grew up there and it's so beautiful ahh,thank you Alfie! She said excitedly. I laughed at her cuteness. "Right Zo, let's go the beach?" I said grinning at her.

"Let's go the beach-each let's go get away!" She sang happily reminding me of the many times her and Louise had sang it in the past month that we had become friends. I groaned at her as she knew how annoying it was. She just simply laughed at me. We started walking making small talk as we made our way to the beach and that was when I decided. I needed to tell Zoe or just do something about it. Yes, there was doubts in my mind but maybe she did like me? The subtle touches, the cuddling, the cute remarks, maybe there was a possibility that she felt the same way too.

After spending all day at the beach, eating fish and chips and going to the arcade we were now taking a walk on the beach. Our arms were linked and Zoe was currently telling me a story about her and Louise's last trip to Primark. I needed to say it know but I couldn't so instead I did what I've always wanted to do. I spun her round so she was facing me and I gently leaned in and pressed my lips onto to hers. She immediately responded kissing back. But then she stopped and she pulled away.

"I-I can't Alfie, I'm have to go I can't do this" She said as her eyes filled with tears and with that she ran of and left me standing in complete shock. I'd just messed everything up and wrecked our friendship, I'm such a fucking idiot.

Zoe's POV.

I'd freaked out, I couldn't do it. I couldn't be in a relationship again not after last time, I wasn't good enough for Alfie I was messed up, he shouldn't have to deal with me. The last few days had been perfect and now I'd wrecked everything by doing something that I was good at, running away from a situation. Joe had come to pick me up he hadn't asked any questions and I guessed he knew, I'd ruined anything just like I always did in every situation. I didn't speak the whole way home and as soon as I was back, I collapsed on my bed and cried myself to sleep. At least that way I could forget everything. I'd wanted to kiss back, I liked Alfie. I couldn't trust myself, I couldn't do it. But I already missed him, I missed Alfie, my Alfie. I'm such a fucking idiot.
