Chapter 7

A Gain, A Pain

By this time of the day, tremendous grey clouds were already storming over the castle, closing up patches of sunlight here and there. Not long after, shimmering splashes of rain trickled down, forcing all to rush indoors. Almost at the same time, Mason and Lisette charged through the door into Hogwarts.

"Hi!" she called, "Congrats!"

Mason limped over to a corner not to block anyone's way and replied, "Why thank you!"

"So what do I have to do for you?" she pondered, slouching in a dull manner.

"Homework!" Mason clapped, flushed with excitement. He knew exactly what classes he sucked at and exactly which homework to give to her.

"Ughh...what homework?" Lisette questioned although she really didn't mind filling out another paper, slightly altered than her own. Plus, maybe Brielle or Blaine could help.

"Hmmmm..." Mason scratched his head, pretending to be deep in thought, "Flying essay, Potions survey and Muggle Studies diagram."

"All that?" Lisette's eyes widened, frantic with shock.

"Yes, all that. You should be grateful I'm not asking for anymore than that!" Mason laughed.

"I guess I should." Lisette agreed, "And I guess I should start working on it too!"

"That, you should." Mason concurred, gently rubbing his flushed face.

With that, the two parted each other and went their seperate ways for the rest of the day. Lisette scurried off, looking for Blaine whislt Mason limped away, arm in arm with Tessa.

"You know..." Tessa began, "I'm starting to like your friend, Lisette."

"You are?" Mason glared, hardly able to sink in the words.

"Yeah, I mean she seems nice." Tessa smiled, real enough for Mason, but fake enough for herself.

"Well, that's good. We should all go out and do some things together some day." Mason suggested.

"Yeah, that would be wonderful!" she chimed, yet another lie.

Arriving at the Hospital Wing on the first floor, Lisette let go off Mason, allowing him to set himself down on a bed.

"What have we got here?" Madam Poppy Pomfrey, the school's matron appeared before them.

"Hit my right leg on the ring while...playing quidditch." Mason choked on his words.

"My my, I hope it's not too bad." she leaned in closer, giving a detailed examination.

"Yeah, but he made the quidditch team despite the injury!" Tessa explained, proud of him.

"Really? That's impressive." Madam Poppy Pomfrey began treating his leg, dabbing all sorts of liquids on before wrapping a tight cast around it.

"Yeah," Tessa agreed, "He is impressive."

Mason blushed. Is she flirting with me? he thought.

"Well, you're a very lucky lady!" Madam Poppy Pomfrey set her tools on a tray, picked it up and started walking the other way to set them down.

"Oh...no, we're not like that..." Mason mumbled, although he wished there was something between them.

"So you say." she glanced at Tessa, paying attention to her cheeks, blushing cherry red, "Anyways, it's good news for the both of you; you won't need to go to St.Mungo's."
