Prologue
The merpeople. No one ever went to Misty Lagoon because of them.
Misty Lagoon looks like a really nice place to be at, until you learn what lives in the water there. You can hear their beautiful singing voices drawing you closer and closer to the water.
They'd poke their heads out if the water and stare at you with their bright green eyes. And eventually, they'd set their webbed hands on you, gently at first, but then suddenly pull you hard into the water and keep you there until you drowned.
Some say they drowned you because you were unworthy to enter the lagoon. Some say so they could keep you as slaves. Either way, no one went to the lagoon.
The people that were drowned were foolish. Some had just been wandering around, and some thought they could catch a mer person and bring it for scientists to study.
For ten years after the last person drowned, everyone forgot about the merpeople. It was a feeling of peace, and no one went near the lagoon again.
Except...for one.
And lucky for him there was one mermaid.....a mermaid who had never killed before, and had feelings for this person. This is her story.
