"I'll stay awake, 'Cause the dark's not taking prisoners tonight."

Time: 3:05 A.M.
She sits up with a jolt, her heart beating faster than usual. Fear held her heart in an iron grasp as she glances around the unfamiliar darkness. It was quite difficult for her to focus on a particular thought, but the one that seemed to stick out the most was; where the hell was she?

"Jane?" a soft, quiet voice spoke from behind her. She stiffened. How did she not notice the other person lying directly next to her? The person shifted, yawned, and slowly sat up. "What's wrong?" Light illuminated the small room, chasing away the shadows. Jane slowly turned to the stranger.

"Tyler," She sighed in relief. Staring back at her was a very sleepy and confused Tyler Joseph. His hair was messier than it usually was, but, in a way, it only made him look more adorable. He raised an eyebrow.

"What are you doing up at," he glances at the alarm clock behind him, "3 in the morning?"

"Early Bird gets the worm, I guess." She responds, lying back down. Tyler just shook his head, not buying into her story.

"It was the nightmare, wasn't it?" he asks, his voice soft and quiet. She sighs, nodding. Tyler slowly crawls out of bed and opens the blinds. She watched him curiously as he crawled back into bed and switched the light off. The room fell silent once more, and she thought that he had just gone back to sleep.

The room was now lit by the moon light and the atmosphere changed from panicked to calming. But she still couldn't sleep, her heart was still racing and her breathing uneven. She took in a shaky breath and prepared for another night of restless sleep.

That is, until warmth surrounded her. Not the warmth you get from a soft blanket, no, the warmth you feel on a warm, summers day. One that is felt on both the inside and the outside. She glanced down and saw two arms wrapped around her waist. Tyler pulled her closer to him until her back was pressed against his chest. He was whispering something, but she couldn't understand what. She was about to ask what he was saying until realization dawned on her.

"Now, the night, is coming to an end," he sung softly,"the sun, will rise, and we will try again, stay alive, stay alive, for me." She smiled. Truce was one of her favorite songs, on top of Goner, Trees, and Holding Onto You. But Truce, Truce was different. Tyler would sing the song to her every time she was down or stressed. It brought her peace, and he knew it."You will die, but now your life is free, take pride in what is sure, to, die. I, will fear, the night again, I hope I'm not my only friend, stay alive, stay alive, for me. You will die, but now your life is free take pride in what is sure, to, die." As Tyler finished his song, he felt Jane's breathing even out, and he soon realized that she had fallen asleep. With a smile on his face, he closed his eyes and fell back asleep.
