While all this had been going on, Freya stayed close to her mother, still in the coronation hall. Though she was worried for her brothers, she knew that she was no true warrior, only having the skills to defend herself if needed, and it could have been dangerous going too. She stood waiting for someone to come back, furiously thinking that no news is good news.
In the end, Loki came to find her, and together they went to go find Thor. They found him in the dining room with the Warriors Three and Lady Sif, with tables overturned and food scattered everywhere.
"It is unwise to be in my company now brother, sister," Thor sulked.
"Well whoever said we were wise," Loki snorted. "No offence, sister."
"This was to be my day of triumph," Thor whined.
"Oh brother, it will come in time, don't worry," Freya soothed her upset brother.
"If it's any consolation, I think you're right. About the Frost Giants, about Laufey, everything." Loki admitted. "If a few of them could penetrate the defenses of Asgard once, who's to say they won't try again. Next time with an army?"
"Yes, exactly!"
"But there is nothing you can do without defying father." Thor looked at Loki. "Oh, no. I know that look."
"It's the only way to ensure the safety of our borders!"
" It's madness!" Loki cried.
Volstagg joined the conversation, asking "Madness? What sort of madness?"
"Nothing! Thor was merely making a jest!" Loki was quick to answer.
"The safety of our Realm is no jest! We're going to Jotunheim!" Thor decided.
"What?" cried Fandral.
"Thor that's dangerous!" camethe voice of Freya.
"Thor, of all the laws of Asgard, this is one you must not break!" Sif threw in.
"This isn't like a journey to Earth, where you summon a little lightning and thunder and the mortals worship you as a god. This is Jotunheim!" reasoned Fandral.
"And if the Frost Giants don't kill you, your Father will!" Volstagg added.
"My father fought his way into Jotunheim, defeated their armies, and took their Casket! We'd just be looking for answers." Thor argued.
"It is forbidden!" shouted Sif.
Thor began to plead his case. "My friends, have you forgotten all that we've done together?" He turned to Fandral. "Who brought you into the sweet embrace of the most exotic maidens in all of Yggdrasil?"
"You did," admitted Fandral.
Next Thor talked to Hogun, "Who led you into the most glorious of battles?" and to Volstagg, "And to delicacies so succulent, you thought you'd died and gone to Valhalla?"
"You did," they said simultaneously.
"And who proved wrong all who scoffed at the idea that a young maiden could be one of the fiercest warriors this Realm has ever known?" Thor questioned.
"I did" Sif deadpanned.
"True, but I supported you," Thor was quick to respond.
One by one the Warriors Three and Lady Sif all agree to help Thor, as does Loki. Loki's agreement is breaking point for Freya.
"Are you all insane? You can't all just go off to Jotunheim, you could be killed!" Freya shouted.
Thor looked thoughtful for a minute, before declaring, "Sister, you're coming with us!"
The whole room burst into chaos.
"Brother, it's too dangerous!" Loki
"Freya is no fighter!" Sif
"She's a princess, not a warrior!" Hogun
"She could die, Thor, and then what would you do?" Fandral
"Are you trying to kill your only sister?" Volstagg
Freya just stood there in shock for a few moments. When she finally spoke, it was soft, quiet and heartfelt. "Brother, please don't make me. I'm a lover, not a fighter. Literally. Love is a part of my domain. I don't think I could hurt anyone if it came to it."
But Thor was relentless. "It should be good for you then, sister! It'll make you more able to defend yourself should a need ever arise!"
"She's not going, brother!" Loki cried.
"Fine. Freya, as Crown Prince of Asgard, I command you to come with us!" Thor shouted. "Now, we'll need to get past Heimdall. Ideas, anyone?"
