Freya walked along the Rainbow Bridge, toward the Bifrost. She felt slightly worried, after all, Loki had said that it wasn't wise to go, and he was now king, but she just had to go check on Thor! He was her brother!

She reached Heimdall and smiled. "Hello! Sorry I haven't been to see you in a while, but I was healing. How's Thor?"

"He is well. He is heading to attempt to retrieve Mjolnir from some mortals as we speak." Heimdall spoke solemnly.

"Loki hasn't forbidden use of the Bifrost or anything has he?" Freya suddenly thought.

"He has not, though I have seen him tell you not to go see your brother."

"Yeah, but it wasn't an order, so Heimdall, please send me to Midgard, to whereabouts Thor is."

Freya went to stand at a certain point of the Observatory, as Heimdall set up a passage to Midgard. He turned his sword in the control panel, and Freya was sucked into a vortex.

Phil Coulson was having a bad day. First, he had to go to the middle of nowhere for a radioactive hammer that nobody could even pick up, then some blonde guy started trying to get to said hammer, knocking out many trained S.H.I.E.L.D officials in the process (thankfully he's now contained), and now the computers started picking up major radioactive flares a few metres away from the fence.

"Okay, I want 10 agents with me, we'll go check out whatever's going on out there." Phil spoke into his radio.

They all got outside and stopped dead. "Woah." There was a huge 'cloud storm full of swirling colours in one area of the sky. And it was building. Suddenly a flare of light came down for a few seconds, and when it receded, the 'cloud storm' disappeared, and a woman appeared in very odd clothing standing in the middle of a rune circle.

"What the hell is going on here?" an agent asked.

"I don't know, but she probably does. Take the woman in for questioning." Phil ordered.

Freya had just stepped into the room when she saw him. "Thor!"

Thor blinked. "Freya? What are you doing here?"

"I came to find you! By the way, where on Midgard is here?" Freya asked, having no idea what was going on.

"The mortals called it 'New Mexico', but this specifically is a mortal government facility I believe."

"Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!" Phil said sarcastically as he entered the room. "Now I have some questions for the two of you. Now you first." He looked at Freya. "What was that flare of light? Why are you dressed like a goddess from Norse mythology? And how the hell do you know this guy?" He gestured to Thor.

"He's my brother!" Freya said enthusiastically. "And what do you mean Norse mythology? I'm just wearing everyday clothes. You're the one dressed weirdly. No offence."

"Lots taken." Phil replied, and seeing as he didn't seem to get anywhere with Freya, turned to Thor. "It's not easy to do what you did. You made us all look like a bunch of mall cops. That's hurtful." Thor stayed silent. "The men you so easily subdued are highly-trained professionals, and in my experience, it takes someone who's received similar training to do what you did to them. Would you like to tell me where you received your training?" Thor sits silently. "Pakistan? Chechnya? Afghanistan? Then again, you strike me more as the soldier of fortune type. What was it, South Africa?"

"Wait!" Freya butted in. "What is 'South Africa'?"

"A place. Now, back to your brother. Certain groups pay well for a good mercenary. Especially HYDRA.

"What is HYDRA?" Freya asked, confused.

Coulson ignored her, still talking to Thor. "Who are you?"

Thor finally spoke."Just a man."

"One way or another, we find out what we want to know. We're good at that." And with that, Phil left the room.

"I thought he'd never leave," a new voice spoke.

"Loki? What are you doing here?" Freya asked.

"Well I had to talk to Thor, and you could imagine my suprise when I found out that you too were on Midgard, so here I am!" Loki spread out his arms.

"What must you tell me?" Thor queried.

"Father is dead."

"What?" Freya gasped. "But he was peaceful in the Odinsleep when I left!"

"I'm afraid that your departure combined with all the other things," Loki glanced at Thor, "sent him over the edge and he passed away."

Freya started to cry, so Thor pulled her into a hug.

"You mustn't blame yourself. I know that you loved him. I tried to tell him so, but he wouldn't listen. It was cruel to put the hammer within your reach, knowing you could never lift it." Thor stared ahead, falling deeper into the abyss. "The burden of the throne has fallen to me now."

"Can I come home?" Thor's voice cracked.

"The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon your exile."

"But couldn't we find a way to-" Freya started.

"Mother has forbidden your return." Thor nodded, and lowered his head, beaten.

"This is goodbye, brother. I'm so sorry."

"No, I'm sorry. Loki... thank you for coming here." Thor whispered.

"Nothing could have stopped me. Freya, are you coming back with me?"

"I think I'll stay a little longer. See you later, brother."

Coulson entered the room, but seemed to take no notice of Loki.

"Fare well, brother, sister."

"Good-bye," muttered Thor.

"Good-bye? I just got back!" Phil said, confused. Thor looked up to see that Loki was gone. "Now. Where did we leave off?"
