----------------------------------------------

Harry didn't have detention with Lockhart that night, thank god he thought, so he didn't hear the Basilisk, but he knew it was on the loose by now. There was something bugging Harry, he felt he'd forgotten something, he just couldn't remember what.

On Tuesday night, Harry and Luna snuck out around midnight, using the Invisability Cloak. No one crossed their path as they made their way to the Room of Requirement. Despite seeing it twice now, Harry still couldn't remember where the Diadem was. It took them over an hour of searching.

Maybe it wouldn't of taken so long if Luna hadn't kept calling out; "Harry! Look at this!" Harry would rush over only to seem some strange colourful object. "Isn't it beutiful?" she would say, fidling with an object. This happened numerous times. But Luna had found it in the end, so Harry was thankfull she came.

They considered looking for the Time-Turner, but it wouldn't of made any difference even if they did find it. It would still be just another Time-Turner for 5 more years. And Harry didn't want to look for a further hour or more. So they left with the Diadem, deciding to not wake Dumbledore, and give it to him later in the morning.

When they did, he told them he had no found any way to get back.

"FiendFire destroys the magic in objects too, as you know, and since only a tiny portion of the Time-Turner was burnt, it still had some magical properties. Time-Turners are very complicated objects, and if we just grabbed one and burnt it, it may take you back even further instead of forwards. There's no way of knowing what could happen." Harry and Luna nodded sadly at this. They missed their friends.

It is a weird thing, to miss someone, when they're with you all the time. But they just weren't the same. These people around him, they haven't been through everything that they would in 5 years. Those things, as devastating as they are, are what make up the people that he knew and loved. If he changed the way Voldemort dies, would Neville ever get his chance to show his bravery? Without destroying the Horcrux, would Ron ever understand that Harry and Hermione had nothing going on?

It was too much to think about, Harry found it was painful and making him feel homesick. He found himself reading lots of books when he couldn't get these thoughts out of his head. Also Quidditch training helped. The Slytherins had trained with them once since last time, and in that short time, it seemed Harry had made progress with Draco. They no longer argued with hate towards each other, just annoyed each other, like brothers almost.

October arrived and the weather grew colder. It started pouring down too, making training sessions muddy and unpleasant. this particular training session had been terrible. They hadn't been able to see a thing the whole time. Last time this happened, it led to Harry agreeing to attend Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday party. Going to this party led to Harry being near Mrs Norris shortly after being petrified, which led to everyone suspecting him.

Harry walked up to the castle, soaked, muddy and exhausted. At the door, he waved his wand over his shoes, vanishing the mud. Then he dried his clothes, feeling comfortable and warm. He walked inside now, keeping an eye out for Nick. He did feel rude for avoiding him, but he really couldn't go to the Deathday party.

He took secret passages all the way up to the common room. He didn't see Nick once. He met Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Ron in the common room. Wood had held Harry back to talk to him about extra tips and tactics, which was why Ron was back already.
