Part 10

Linda won't do anything? What the hell is going on?
"I followed her the day she came to your house, I knew everything. She won't bother you again, don't worry."
"About that day, what was happening in your house?"
Aiden hesitated for a moment before he asked, "At what time?"
"Almost 4am."
"You were there?", he asked worriedly.
"Yes."
"Let's go somewhere, I don't
want to work today."
"Aiden, you have to answer my question."
"Nothing was happening Taylor, can we go now?"
"Where to?"
"Anywhere."
"Fine"

We jumped in the car. When am I going to ask him about his mom? Or shall I wait and see?

"Taylor, it's raining heavily, I think we need to stay in the car for a while.."
"Alright, wanna play a game?"
"Sure, what game?"
"Well.. It's not really a game, we just ask questions.. I'll start, what is your deepest secret that only you know?"
"It won't be a secret anymore", he smiled.
"That's not an answer to my question, Aiden", I rolled my eyes.
"Alright but don't tell anyone!"
He leans in to whisper to my ear. Aren't we alone in the car?
He is so close to my face I can hear him breathing. He doesn't whisper anything, but he kisses my cheek. Wait what? That was so unexpected.
I looked at him with my eyes wide open. What about the secret? Yes I know that's not the issue now, but I was really looking forward to know his deepest secret.
"Your turn", I decided to not ask about his secret.
"I won't ask, I want you to just tell me more about yourself."
"Well, I'm Taylor, I'm 26 years old, my parents died in a car accident when I was 14. My 2 bestfriends are Rosie and Jade. I live with my brother Harry, and recently Jessie, his sweet girlfriend who is going to be his wife. I guess that's it. Man, my life is so boring."
"What's Jessie's last name?", Aiden asks worriedly.
"I don't know. Why?"
"I just want to know, please ask her. Maybe I know her."
"Alright, my turn, I want you to talk about yourself."
"I'm Aiden, 26 years old. I live with my mom, my parents got divorced when I was 13, and I never heard of my dad again since then. I don't have any brothers or siblings. I guess my life is boring too.. My turn, do you have a crush on me?"
Whoa.
"What?! I pass."
"No, you can't do that. Yes or no?"
I smiled at him. Maybe that's better than saying yes. "Look! It stopped raining!"
"Too bad. I was enjoying the game."
We continued our way to where we're going (which I don't know yet).
"Aiden, what are we?", I need to shut up.
"What do you mean?"
"What's our 'relationship status'?", so it wasn't fine because he didn't understand so I decided to continue being stupid and explain to him.
"I guess we're really close friends..", he said slowly. Really? Close friends? Fine.
"If so, I have to see your mom. It's not nice that I know she's that sick and not visit her."
"I'm really sorry Taylor, she doesn't really like people seeing her suffer.."
I sighed. I can't call him a liar. What if she's alive? What if it's not Bailey's cousin?
"Have you noticed we don't have any pictures together?"
"Yeah.."
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere special, I don't usually take people there", he smiled. Wtf?
He jumped out of the car and opened my door.
"Where are we??", I asked curiously.
"I used to come here when I was 7 with my dad, until he left. But I never stopped coming here, whenever I feel stressed, I bring my hammock and tie it between those 2 trees."
"But it's an empty land, only a couple of trees, what's so special about it?"
"Sometimes the memories make the special places."
"Damn, that was deep."
We both laughed.
He got out his hammock and we walked to the two trees he pointed to minutes ago.
I helped him tie it. He quickly slept on it. "Where am I going to sleep?"
He slid a little bit to the side and patted beside him with a silly smile. I personally don't mind.
I heard Aiden laugh so hard. Not again. "Did I do that again?"
"It's ok let's pretend I never heard that and you never said it", he laughed.
I slid beside him and hugged my knees.
"Why are you sleeping like that?", he laughed again.
"I feel comfortable this way."
"No you don't", he pushed my knees downward and put my arm on my chest. This is so not cozy. Then he fixed himself and wrapped his arm around my shoulders and wrapped my arm around him. Now this is cozy. Close friends, eh?
I was so sleepy, but it was really fun I didn't want to sleep.
"The best thing about this place is watching sunset..."
I heard Aiden say a lot of words, but I wasn't really paying attention. Listening to him talk freely was enough.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure go ahead."
"How come you and Linda are back together after what she's done to you?"
"We're not back together, we're just friends again. But I would never date her again. She really broke my heart in senior year."
That's interesting. Hmm.
"Let's take a picture, I think it's the perfect timing!"
I pulled out my phone and snapped a quick picture. Wow look at that pose. Bailey can't see that ugly face. Let's just crop me out of this picture. I wrapped my arm back around him.
"How about we go to a water park!", Aiden suddenly yelled.
"I like the idea! Are you free on friday?"
"Yes. It will be so cool! Let me tell you about when I once broke my leg there."
"Aww you broke your leg?"
"Yes, I was going to the biggest slide there, which obviously has the longest ladder...", I heard Aiden say a lot of words, I really wanted to listen, but I fell asleep in 3 seconds.
