It didn't take long for the gossiping to start.
I laughed at some of the things i was hearing, how things manage to get twisted so far from reality travelling from mouth to mouth. I tried not to take notice of it all as at the end of the day, i was still very hurt by what this person tried to do to me and just because i crushed the guys balls a little, didn't make it all go away.
I kept silent and to myself for most of the day, it had not been my intent to draw so much attention to the situation, but i lost it. I had to do something to let my frustration out and to let myself know that i was not weak; he had not taken my power away from me and that it wouldn't have gotten as far as it did had he not drugged me.
Jeremy was so excited about me destroying Carter's crown jewels that he wouldn't shut up about it at lunch, letting out laughs and amused facial expressions in between his broken phrases of
"and when you..."
"and i heard that you.."
"and his face!!!"
Alice could tell that i had heard enough about it for one day and did her best to change the subject, giving me sympathetic smiles that i had to smile back at. She also gave me a raised eyebrow/what-are-you-not-telling-me look when Jason and i shared a stare that lasted a little longer than it should have as he walked past our table. I brushed her off with a shake of the head; after all, there really was nothing to tell - but of course she rolled her eyes.
The sound of the bell brought me back to reality and it was the sweetest sound i had heard all day. I was happy that the day was over, to go home, spend some time with my dad, go to sleep and hopefully wake up feeling much better about the situation.
I stood up, zipped up my leather jacket and swung my bag over my shoulder. The heel of my boots smacked and clinked on the schools hallway flooring as i left the class and joined the roar of the masses of students who were slamming lockers, making plans, high-fiving and laughing. The double doors at the end of the corridor that let in a small amount of dull light looked like a stairway to heaven to me, and as i pushed the doors open and the cool air hit my face, i took a breath and smiled.
It was over; today's school day was over.
I felt a lot calmer as i walked towards my car, a peaceful expression on my face and the hope that tomorrow would be a lot better.
"So uh, i heard that Carters been stuck with a bag of frozen peas on his junk all day and has to sit on the bench for today's football practice. I gotta say, i would not like to be on the receiving end of those boots."
I looked to my left to see a smirking Jason, wearing a biker jacket and carrying a helmet. I cocked my head to the side and examined him.
"You ride a motorcycle?" I asked, choosing to just ignore the Carter comments. His brows furrowed not expecting the response i gave him. He looked at his helmet and a metephorical light bulb seemed to turn on in his brain.
"Oh... yea, you didn't notice before?" he asked and i shook my head.
"I guess not. What do you ride? I asked. Once again, he gave me his smirk that i was beginning to think was a trademark for him.
