As i walked over the twigs and stone that made up the pathway of the alley behind the gym, i couldn't help but wonder if there was more than just the reason of wanting a cigarette or if i was kind of hoping to run into Jason. I still couldn't figure out why i was drawn to this guy, i was never drawn to guys in my high school. I have only ever been with older guys, guys that had more to offer experience wise than these losers who's lives will peak in senior year of high school. I wasn't even sure if it was attraction drawing me in, sure the guy was hot, but i don't think it was that. It was the mystery and intrigue of the guy, it was the reason why Jack wants me to stay away, It was that something that i just couldn't put my finger on. It was the want... the need to know about this guy that was pulling me in.
As i walked closer to the steps that i was expecting to find him at; the steps we had last shared a breath of no-so-fresh air, i felt myself feel a little flat and disappointed to find that he was in fact not around. I sat on the cold, stone steps and placed a cigarette in between my teeth as i dug around for a lighter. As i was rooting around my black hole of a bag, a radiant orb of orange seemed to illuminate in front of my face which caused to me to gasp in shock.
I looked up to see Jason standing next to me, holding a flame in front of the cigarette which was loosely placed between my lips. I didn't take my eyes off him as i leant forward and toked on the cigarette to light it, i drew in a long drag, letting the futile smoke fill my lugs as if to suffocate me from the inside out, before catching the cigarette between two fingers and withdrawing it from my lips.
"Looking for me?" He asked, which made me laugh slightly.
"Don't flatter yourself Jase, just here to smoke." I told him with a matter-of-fact tone to my voice. He nodded his head with a look on his face which told me either he didn't believe me or he did believe me and wasn't pleased with the response i had given.
The cold air blew around us causing me to shiver slightly and tug at my american flag scarf to cover more skin.
"What class have you got first?" His words sliced into the comfortable silence that surrounded us and startled me a little. I looked at him as i picked my brain for my schedule; i still hadn't got back into the swing of things and couldn't remember my schedule off by heart.
"Chemistry." I told him with a squint as i wasn't quite sure.
"Well what do you know, so do i." Jason told me with a smirk. Huh? Jason wasn't in my chemistry class. I thought back to previous classes since school began and i was sure he wasn't ever in that class. Maybe he skipped it? Maybe he was in the class but i was too far away with my thoughts to notice? No... i definitely would have noticed.
"Since when are you in my chemistry class?" I asked him, hoping he wouldn't take it the wrong way. He took a long drag on the remains of his cigarette and threw it to the ground, all the while smirking whilst holding the smoke in his lungs for a second before releasing it slowly.
"Since i got transferred to it. You see Mr Howard and i didn't get on too well..." Jason explained. I nodded slowly trying to think how he had managed to get himself kicked out of the class in the short amount of time he had attended it.
