Jessie's Girl

So you know that moment when you think to yourself "well its been a while since god put a plot twist into my life, so where is it?" Well, whoop here it is.

So, I hate to brag (I really do) but apparently I'm kinda attractive. (I really think this is false.) So, my parents have this rule that I have to split every two dates with Matt and take a filler date. (yes, its the dumbest rule ever. But, their house their rules.) On one Friday night Sam (matts best friend, the one on the date with Andrea) asked me to get burgers with him. I told him I had already eaten but would love to hang with him. So, this was my filler date; and it was a darn good one.  I got ready just like it was an other date, but tried a lot less to be attractive. (I didn't want him to think I was dating the whole team. I was really only interested in one player.) So I wore leggings and a plain white long sleeve t-shirt. Seemed casual enough to me.

I drive myself down to the McDonalds we were meeting at and met him (basically at the same time) inside. He ordered some food and we waited. We talked about a lot of nothing and then I realized that we had been there for quite a long time.(good thing there was basketball going on in the background cause I honestly couldn't stand watching him eat that burger in front of me. It wasn't that I was hungry, I just couldn't handle it.) We talked a lot about Matt and my's relationship and what not and a lot about this girl he was into at the time: Carissa. (she turned out to be a real catch... NOT!) Any-who, We talked and then he said, "are you ready I have to take some shoes to Enoch (our old friend that moved away recently) and then we can come back and get your car." (I was so game)

So silly me was so into the plan that I agreed. (PS. I used to like Enoch when he first moved back to Oregon the summer previous to this school year. And like 2 years before that I liked Sam.) So I got into his truck and we casually drove down to Enoch's house. This was too good to be true there had been absolutely no drama. For someone I had talked pretty deeply to there was no drama...yet.

So weeks went by and there was little talks here an there with Sam and nothing big, but suddenly I was talking to him more and more. And I kinda liked it. (secretly we were really flirting with each other and hurting our own feelings.) We kept talking for a long while and then one night I get this text.

"Hey Malissa, I noticed something the other day."

"what is that Sam?"

"We have a  lot of fun together and we talk a lot about things that we 'could or would' do with each other, but we both know about Matt at the end of the day."

"yeah that's right Sam, and I love him very dearly, why do you bring this up?"

"Well, I was listening to my new favorite song; Jessie's Girl."

"why is that your favorite?"

"cause it describe my life right now."

"What do you mean it describes your life. You're dating that really cute girl, or I guess as of recently were...."

"Think about it, that is seriously my life.."

So I sat there and thought about it and I listened to the song and realized that through this song he was telling me that he liked me.... (okay, you know how everyone thinks it would be cute to have someone profess their love to you through song, yeah not so much.) Anyway I sat there and felt like complete trash for so many days because I lead my boyfriends best friend onto a wild Malissa chase, and he was never going to find me. I knew his little sympathy game and I knew where it would end up. And I wasnt about to get sweaty with this kid.

Weeks went on and we kept talking like nothing was wrong. A few flirty jokes here a couple selective phrases there and we were a full fledged side fling. And I wasn't sure it was all I had hoped it to be. I was a loyal=l citizen to Mattsville and wasn't about to check into Samland. So one hasty comment later and it was world war three and if Matt didn't choose me I was about to go all pearl harbor on our relationship.

So, long story short Sam now feels like he has to move on (thank goodness for that cause I wasn't hopping back aboard the train to Samland.) and do some pretty dumb things.  Like last week he climbed up a power line to get three crappy pictures and made Matt stand at the bottom in case he fell of an died.... (hes a real friend guys.... give it up for the crappiest friend award!)
