Uneasy in his mind Robin rolled over and stared into the darkness of his bedroom. Whenever he closed his eyes, the thought of Regina Mills haunted him. This woman got under his skin.
He reflected on her curves. The small waist combined with the broad hips and her breasts.
In court she was aloof. Her intelligent brown eyes radiated a certain arrogance. But tonight she had surprised him. Tonight she showed him that the hard-bitten advocate was able to turn his head. A warm smile, a touch of her hand and his heart had already been in danger of bursting.
He wanted her. Wanted to caress her cheeks while her brown eyes saw right through his soul. He wanted to kiss her full lips. To run his fingers through her dark hair, wandering to her back and then to her ass.
Robin really tried to focus on not thinking about her body that much, but hey, he was a man. He could not ignore her sex appeal. Especially not when she emphasized her feminine charms.
Suddenly he heard languid steps coming from the hallway. The noise ripped him out of his thoughts. After a while the door opened and Roland entered. His curly hair was a mess. His brown eyes were barely open. Maybe it was good that his son interrupted his fantasies about Regina. If he would have continued to think about her in that way, it would have become tight in his pants.
"Can I sleep here?" he asked. "I had a bad dream."
"Of course" his father answered and lifted the blanket up, so that the boy could crawl under it. His little body snuggled up to him.
The lawyer loved spending time with his son. Because of his job, they saw each other only in the evening and at weekends. He put his arm around his shoulders, pressing him even closer against him.
"Do you want to talk about the dream?"
Roland shrugged but he did not answer.
"You know, sometimes it helps to talk about it."
"It was about you" he whispered. His small hands grabbed the fabric of his shirt. "You died. And I had no one left. I was alone... I don't want to be alone, Daddy."
"You won't" Robin replied. "I'll never leave you, that's a promise. It was just a dream."
His words seemed to be too weak to cheer his son up. Too simple.
"You can't promise that. Mommy didn't want to leave either."
Robin froze. He was right, Marian did not want to leave them, but she did. And how could one explain that to a five years old child?
"You're right, but your mother was very sick. She's at a better place now."
Roland looked up to him. The darkness absorbed most of his facial features, nevertheless Robin could see the worry in his eyes. He was concerned about his father. His heart broke at the sight of his sorrow.
"Don't be afraid" he murmured and caressed his back. "I'm healthy and I'm here. I won't leave you, buddy and I want you to believe that."
"Okay..." he answered.
"I'll always be there for you." He buried his face in the dark curls of his son. Breathing in the scent of his shampoo and enjoying his near. Roland needed him. And he needed Roland even more.
Although he was a grown up man, he would always need him.
"Always" he repeated.
"I love you" he whispered. "And I miss you."
"You miss me? Why?"
"You work the whole day. I want to spend time with you."
That was it. The sentence he had been afraid of for a long time. The boy never complained about his work because he knew why Robin's job was so important. But that did not change the fact that his son felt lonely. And it was his father's fault. Guilt choked him. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat and placed a kiss on Roland's head.
"I'm sorry" he apologized. "You know that I love you more than anything?"
The curly head nodded. "Yes..."
"What do you think about accompanying me to my office tomorrow? I'm sure my colleagues will understand. I have some paper work to do but you could help me."
The attorney was quite aware of the fact that he was not able to help him but he wanted him to feel better. Wanted to see his beautiful smile again. And it worked. Dimples decorated the boy's face and his brown eyes began to glow as he looked up to gaze at the older Locksley.
"Really?"
"Really" he confirmed, smiling at him.
"I like the idea."
"Me too, buddy. But now we should get some sleep. Otherwise we're everything but helpful the next day."
"You're right... Goodnight, Daddy" he mumbled. "I love you."
"I love you too, my little knight."
With a slight smile on his lips, Roland closed his eyes and only seconds later Robin could hear his regular breath. The boy must have been very tired.
A message flashed on his mobile phone. He reached out for it and his heart skipped a beat.
Hello, you small-time academic. Probably you're sleeping right now, but I wanted to thank you for the nice evening and for paying my food. You hadn't got to do that and I appreciate it. Maybe I could start getting used to you.
He grinned and bit his lip. The text was so typical for Regina. It was like she was right here, next to him. He could almost hear her mocking voice. Could almost see her bright smile and the spark in her eyes.
You're welcome, he texted back, and as you see, I'm as awake as you are. By the way, the nickname is unjustified.
Her answer came only seconds after his message.
We'll see about that, Locksley.
He stared at his phone. Robin wanted to tell her how stunning she had looked tonight, but that was probably a bad idea.
I can prove it to you, he wrote instead.
-I'm sure you can.
Before I forget about it, I checked my e-mails a few minutes ago. We have to appear at the Smith's house tomorrow to check on the remained assets. Be punctual.
He shook his head in disbelief. It was almost midnight and she had not got anything better to do than checking her mails. He always thought he was a workaholic, but Regina was hard to top.
Already looking forward to see you again. Oh, by the way, I will fight harder than you and won't let you destroy me in court. Sleep tight ;), he replied knowing that she would certainly curse him for his remark.

The Smiths' house was one of the most impressivebuildings, Regina had ever seen. A large front yard ended in an equally hugeporch. The house itself was white, not one spatter was on it. The lawyer wasflabbergasted when she compared it to her own rather small apartment.
The owners were not allowed to be present for the negotiations.
Robin arrived only minutes after her. But he was not alone. His fingers wereinterlaced with the ones of a child. It was a boy with untamable curls and friendlybrown eyes.
"Sorry for being late" the colleague began to speak and gave her apolite smile. Regina could not help but return it. She was already mesmerizedby the spark in his blue iris and the way his dimples appeared beside thesewonderful eyes.
"This is Roland, by the way", he continued. "My son."
She remembered their conversation at the restaurant. All she knew about thelittle guy was that he was five years old. And that he never really got to knowhis mother.
The black-haired woman smiled. "Nice to meet you. I'm Regina."
His tiny hand shook hers. "Hi. Nice to meet you too."
"He wanted to join us today. I hope you don't mind" Robin told her.
"Not at all."
