"Hey, cutie," a voice  says.
It's the first sound I've heard, deep and low. I stick my arm out, pawing a soft tube. A warm, wet  tongue reaches my head, and I try to open my eyes.
Birds start chirping, and I hear the howling of other of my kind.
Wolves.
I twitch open an eye, and I see a white, fluffy body holding me in its arms, right between its paws. It looks down at me, and smiles.  I don't even have to know what that fluffy white thing is- I already know, my mother.
Her blue eyes sparkle as she smiles, and the morning sun shines on her, making her fur glow.
I hear a crack. I try twisting my head toward the sound,  but I'm to slow. A dark, big shadow covers me, and I can see the smile, against its black fur.
"Future alpha," the black furred giant says. "Kallee,"
"Kallee?" My mother asks. "Kallee who?"
"Kallee," the giant says. "Will be her name, after the first alpha of the lands."
