That's how things begin and end

*Tring* I hear the bell ringing, that is the sound of the bell of my last exam of Sanskrit, I realize. Though I had submitted my answer sheet quite a while ago, still the teacher won’t allow us to move. I look at Madhav he had to give me a chocolate; I am really hoping he has brought it. Hold on! Madhav is not my crush (for some of you who might have presumed it to be) he is just a good friend. And the chocolate was because, he said he owes me one, the reasons that I still have to know maybe it is because it was the last exam of tenth standard and all of us will afterwards have a different class, whatsoever. My exam didn’t go “Brilliant” nor was it was “Bad” but it was okayish, the reason being I didn’t cheat, not even a single word was asked form anyone (which is quite unusual actually) though I tried to. I look back at my best friend Nisha, I feel a little angry with her, I guess that’s because she didn’t tell me anything during the whole exam. I hide the anger and politely ask her “How was the exam?” though expecting a negative reply but an absolute wonderful result, which is one of the few things I hate about her. “It was okay, not pretty good, you know.” She replies with a sad smile. “I absolutely know darling and I know that the result will be exactly opposite.”  I tell myself, as she gets busy with the boys, I don’t know why but I am not quite happy though I should be, “This was you last exam babe.” I tell myself. I don’t know why but that too does not help. I need to get some fresh air, maybe. I get out of the examination hall, repeating the words, “It was nice, okayish, what about you?” to almost everyone and anyone through my way to the corridors. I take my bag, stuff everything in it and wait for Nisha, today I am not carrying her bag so that we can directly go to the ground, but she is too busy to notice. I step out of my classmates, and stand in front of the big window with my arms closed. “Pritisha, are you sure with this, I mean I hope you are not kidding, I mean, OMG he is not coming really is he, please tell me he is not. OMG, God.  Shit, Yaar. ” She says in a single breath repeating “OMG, God. Shit, Bro.” At least fifty times, when she is done she pants and indicates me to wait. I obediently follow what she says. “Hmm, speak.”  She speaks with that little twinkle in her eyes. I smile, assuring her nothing will go wrong and she needs to keep calm. “It is okay, you need not worry, I called him yesterday and he told me he would be coming, though it had to be a surprise but I could not keep it from you for too long.” We are talking about her Facebook friend, Akash who loves Nisha, at least that’s what he says all the time, though she says ‘she-doesn’t-gives-a-shit-about-him’ but I know, she indeed has a soft spot for him and I can tell that by the way she talks about him, that ass has been my friend from 2 years now, so I can tell a whole lot of things about her. They both haven’t met even once and so I played the cupid (my favorite role) and decided to call him, in the school so that they both can at least see each other. I have talked to Akash, he is a decent boy, and appears to be quite hot, with his display picture on Facebook.  Nisha is scared, which is quite normal, I tell her but she doesn’t believe me. “You know he is too-good-to-be-true.” She says for the fiftieth time. “I know, right.” I tell her with a poker face, though I agree to her to some extent, but Nisha is quite pretty with her big eyelashes, high cheekbones, fair skin and an awesome figure. “I am scared.” She says with a big sad face. “Forget it, think of ONE DIRECTION.” I suggest her giving the word ONE DIRECTION a little too much stress. “I know.  OMG. 1D. OMG. OMG. Harry, Zayn, Louis, Niall, LIAM!!  Oh gosh.”  She repeats the chant like we always do, whenever we are stressed. I repeat after her. We giggle in union, forgetting the Akash thing for a while. “The boyband, I die for. I love the boys. I am proud of them.” I think, I am about to cry, when Nisha snaps her finger, “Where are you lost, and why are you crying.” She says. “It is nothing, just the boys, you know.  I love them.” I speak as a tear comes out of my eyes and falls on her hand and a lump forms in my throat, which takes a while to go. She gives me an understanding smile. She says, she knows how hard it is for me. We reach the ground, there are only 50 students of tenth standard as the other sections were over with their exams, and we had 2 hours to kill as the school would get over at 1:00 and it was 11:00 by then. “He’ll be coming at 11:45, outside the school gate” I remind her. We get busy as we gossip about the stream we all will be taking, who will change schools, the new admissions will they be hot or not!  She asked me what I and Akash talked the previous day and I narrate the whole conversation.  “Is he coming?” Nisha asks me, for the twentieth time that day. “Oh well obliviously. He has to, he will. I guess” I say, I am a little unsure about the boy, I tell her, “It is 12:30, half an hour till the school gets over.” she tells me. “The countdown is not really helping.” This thing has been irritating me for an hour long. We wait for another twenty minutes, but Akash doesn’t come which upsets Nisha, she looks as if she is going to cry oceans in a second. I try to comfort her; by saying he is an asshole. “You know, I really don’t care about him, anyway.” Cheering at once, now that is Nisha she doesn’t gives shit about men, she has thousands lined up anyways. “Madhav, give me the chocolate.” I scream at him, I am darn hungry and there is nothing to eat at all. “That ass has not brought it, I bet.” I whisper in Nisha’s ear. “I think he has brought it.” She whispers back with a wink. “Bet.” We clap our hands together as we bet “for the last time” I remind her we give each other an understanding smile, she knows that it will be pretty hard for both of us. “I am sorry, babe but I forgot.” He tells me. “Ha, I knew it, I win babe.” I laugh as till date Nisha has not won any bet till date. “Madhav, did I tell you are a son of a bitch.” Nisha screamed in his ear. “Throughout the year, Nisha.” He said with an I-am-not-sad-I-am-just-pretending-to-be-so look on his face, we laughed at the thought of the fights of Nisha and Madhav. “Tenth has been an awesome class, thanks to the people around.” Nikita says, as she comes around with Latika, her best friend. “It was the BEST” she says, as she pulls my cheeks.  Nikita and Latika, Jokingly call each other as ‘Boyfriend’ ‘Girlfriend’ the former being the later. “Thanks to you, my ex girlfriend.” Latika says as she smiles cheekily towards me, we both laugh as we remind ourselves that before Nikita, I was (jokingly) her former girlfriend. We get busy as we decide that we will always stay in touch and how we will pass through our vacations, the thought of holiday for 4 weeks completely frightens me, and I know I am going to rot like a potato in these weeks. The bell rings and it is time for us to bid Goodbye, we board our respective busses with teary eyes, tight hugs, kisses, flying kisses, we all are aware that from that point onwards we are going to have different social circles, different groups but we all know that we will never forget the days spent together though I can still meet these people as I am not changing my school after tenth but I know it won’t be the same, like before.
